5 Friday Photos.

I grabbed 5 pictures from my phone and these are from the last two days.

I'm handing in my basic card early again this year. Let's go to fall and, actually, skipping straight to winter is okay with me. 90s every day is getting old.

We're heading back to doggy daycare today. Hopefully it's as successful the second time around.

I can't stop with the Bachelor franchise podcasts.

Change of command was yesterday. More on that next week.

Talk about convenient: I was in the field with the dogs last night when I saw a rattlesnake. Since I had my phone (because I was listening to a podcast, obviously), I called Scott and he came out on the four-wheeler to shoot the snake. Much easier than all that nonsense I had to deal with last summer.
(is it time to move yet?)

5 on Friday. 12/9

I finished The Secret Keeper. I highly recommend it. SO MUCH BETTER than The Lake House. As I told my coworker, it's the first WWII book to hold my attention in 2016. It was enthralling and twisty.

Scott grilled on Monday night and little Jett just didn't know what to do with himself.

A student made me this (it's wrapped around a canvas). Probably because I wouldn't shut up about candy corn awhile back.

Onto this audiobook. It was recommended on What Should I Read Next? and it's held my attention for the first 3 hours. Have you read it?

The battalion Christmas party last night. Only like 2 more parties to go this weekend....

TGIF.

Friday Phone Photos

Just a few pictures I took this week.

It's been a tiring one. We're also in a huge season of waiting when it comes to the army and what's next (spoiler alert: we don't know what's next) so unsettled is becoming the day-to-day feeling.

The dogs went hunting last weekend. It was windy.

And then there's a dead bird in the house (Jett's retrieved kill).

Jett started destroying this pillow (he got in so much trouble) and then Scout finished the job.

I started The Secret Keeper. It's taking some time to get into, but I think I like it better than The Lake House.

A professor I had in college said this in an article last this week. "Teacher exodus" is right. There's no incentive to stay in the field, other than loving what you do.

Lastly, I get so frustrated with my day-to-day routine simply because I haul all this to work. Scott told me to buy a gallon jug (the water at my workplace is borderline undrinkable so I take my own), but I finally just bought a 48 oz Nalgene. That might help. I'm sooooo tired of filling up water bottles before I leave the house in the morning. I thought about keeping bottled water at work, but it just seems wasteful.  (Right?)

Monday Phone Photos

On Wednesday, I chipped a tooth. No idea how. That pretty much colored the rest of my week.

I went to the dentist on Friday and, praise be, Tricare actually benefited me for once and I just had to pay $22 for a filling. Though the popular opinion is that the filling may not stay put because it's on the top of one of my front teeth. But, gold star to Fountain Modern Dentistry. I like them.

Onto phone photos...because does anyone actually carry a camera anymore?

Scott told me to "plant something" when I told him I was bored. "Buy some of those nice clay pots" he said. Then, when I did, his response was "Those plants survival is about as good as me winning the jackpot."
Clearly he knows about my non-green thumb.

Exciting times here. I'm rewatching it all.

Cripple Creek, Colorado. I think this is a gold mine (I spend so much time doing Colorado history stuff during the school year ...and it's boring...so I couldn't be bothered to read the placard).

Tourist trap.

Rainbow, clearly meant for just me since it's on my property only, after last night's storm.

I was going to take my mom for pedicures this week, but she didn't want to spend the money (even if I was buying), so I painted my own toenails (like a peasant or something).

And two wet, muddy dogs. And at least one plant that is still alive.

Saturday Phone Drop

I didn't take a whole lot of pictures this week. It's been an overwhelming one, to say the least.

Since I no longer have class on Tuesday nights, I decided to use that extra time to make my hair a slightly lighter shade of blonde with some highlights. Usually I do this on the weekends so that if I screw it up, I have time to get it fixed before work. This time, I did it at 6pm on a Tuesday and I had two important meetings on Wednesday. That was living on the edge.

I love TJs soups. My coworker lives right next door to TJs. She walks there. Life is unfair, right?
So anyway, she picked me up some soup as a surprise.

Outer order = inner calm. I believe in this SO much.
I'll be putting it into practice this weekend. I kind of feel like I'm slowly going insane because I have a little too much to do.

A student wrote Scott a letter. They had to pick a hero to write to and I told them they could write to a soldier and I would send it to a soldier (I figured Scott could hand them out to his company).
This kid (identifying info obviously removed) loves the Broncos and kept asking if he could "add just a little Broncos' colors". I responded with NO every time.
Ignore the lack of question marks. I didn't proofread these. Authenticity is better for something like this, right?

And fun fact: this kid hates the Steelers. We got these little bracelets for some assembly this week and they were black/white and black/yellow. I only had two black/yellow ones in my pack, so I made sure he had one, and I put one on too. I said, "Hey there Johnny, we have matching Steelers' bracelets!" and he was not pleased. Everyone else had a black/white one. Someone asked if they could trade and I said, "I don't care. But you can't trade with Johnny."  Johnny (obviously not his real name) was not happy. He told me it "burned" his wrist because it was Steelers' colors and he's a Broncos fan.*

That was seriously the best part of my week.

*Every day, I have to consciously make sure I don't wear blue and orange together OR write on the board in blue and orange marker because he and many of the others will point out that HAHAHA you're a Broncos fan now!

Friday Phone Drop

In recent weeks, several people I know IRL have found me on Instagram and I don't have a good reason to not be friends with them so now I feel weird about posting on Instagram. In the same way that I feel weird about posting on Facebook. It's almost like I don't want to share or something.

I'm obviously still under the delusion that stuff I publish on here can't be found, seen, or read.

However, effort is required to find my blog because I don't post it all over Facebook, so we'll just go with the fact that *maybe* IG followers can get to it and I'll just happily speak to my blog community, sharing all those things I don't put on social media.

Here's some things from the week...

I ordered pens online. Because convenience is always my #1 motivating factor.

The week started like this, and now it's going to be in the 70s today. I'll take it.

How we all feel getting out of bed on Friday:

I'm supposed to be fixing this flat tire and I'm procrastinating it until forever. Or until I need the four-wheeler. I DON'T KNOW HOW.

Finished this and started the next one in the series. There's only three of them. It's not the best thing I've ever read but it's a nice pass-the-time-kinda-thing while I walk the dogs. I'd rate it at a solid B-.

Happy Friday!
