Branson is the name of a Downton Abbey character.

We spent Saturday and Sunday in Branson, Missouri.  A friend of Scott's from Alaska just happened to be marrying a girl from Arkansas, and they just happened to be having the wedding at a lodge near Branson.  It was only 2 hours from our house, so that's not the kind of opportunity you can turn down.

The view was hideous.
While sitting at that ceremony, I said I was "too hot".  Scott was appalled.

I noted that most of the animal heads on the wall were elk.  Scott was sure to point out: "And that one's a moose..."

That's false advertising.  There's no moose on the Missouri/Arkansas border (Dear Lord, I hope not anyway.)

We looked into spending the night in a modern cabin at this lodge.  All they had left were villas (poor planning on our part) for...$3,500 a night.

We stayed at a Ramada for $70 instead.
The sweater (Loft clearance) was out of habit.  The dress is Derek Hart (dumb juniors' brand), but I thought it was cute for $19 at the PX.  It's very flowy.

I didn't take a whole lot of pictures, simply because Scott, his friend that drove down with us, and the groom were the only people I knew at the wedding.  In fact, our invitations never even arrived, due to our new address/mail forwarding, etc.  So we just kinda showed up.  It was awkward.  It did keep me busy all night..trying to figure out who everyone was.

Anyway.  Branson...

Have you been to Ocean City, Maryland?  Niagara Falls?  Atlantic City?

Take away the oceans, the casinos, and the Falls.  Now you have Branson.

Giant Titanic museum (complete with "Touch a real iceberg!!!")

Large inanimate objects. Terrifying.

Ever been to Branson?  I wanted to drive over the Arkansas border, just because we were RIGHT there, but I was exhausted.  I really don't think I've adjusted to the time change yet.  In addition, I've had what I'm calling "half a cold" for the last week; it's not a real cold...just allergy-like symptoms.

Guess we'll have to make the trip to Arkansas another time!

These moose

Building 600 is the place on base you go to for i.d. cards, housing, trainings, family readiness meetings, etc. Basically, aside from the gym, the commissary, and the Starbucks, it's the only building I've ever felt the need to go inside.

Almost 4 years ago, on our first trip there, I noticed it was like a maze.  Hallways, doorways, steps, elevators, no real rhyme/reason/design to its particular architecture.  At nighttime, if you're there for a meeting or something, the lights often dim in the hallways because they're controlled by motion sensors.  Adds to the ambiance, I suppose.

If you walk around one corner (don't ask me where, I don't understand the layout of the place), you'll come face to face with this.

That's eye-level
And you'll jump.  Like this.

Or maybe it's just me. Every. single. time.  They scare the be-jeezus out of me.

I just feel that there's nothing like a creepy menagerie of dead, stuffed moose.

I especially like the little placards that tell you how they died.  It's awesome that they're on display for all to see.  (The little ones?  Twins.  Killed by wolves.)

I've spent a lot of energy avoiding this particular hallway in Building 600.  Maybe this has to do with my odd fear of large inanimate objects.  But I will go half a mile out of my way to avoid coming around this corner.

I will not miss these moose.

The end.

Mingle 240

 Linking up to Mingle Monday!
Any Monday that's a holiday is a good Monday!
What were you up to this weekend?  My weekend was blessedly uneventful.

I got crafty.  If I had enough patience for tutorials, I would tell you that you can buy the hook thingy at Michael's for about $11 and the numbers at the same store for 79 cents a piece.  Paint them.  Hot glue them.  Have your mom mail you the stars from Pennsylvania.  Then you have yourself some wall art.
That's our anniversary.  Oh, and I now own more of those stars than I do pairs of shoes.

This was the temperature reading on my car.

I caught some moose in the backyard.  Honestly, I care not at all that there are moose in the yard.  This was just an opportunity to use my new 300 mm camera lens.

Despite what I'm told, I fully believe that a moose would eat a person if given the opportunity.

And...that's about it.

Oh, this website is keeping me amused in the same way Suri's Burn Book keeps me amused.  It's the simple things, people.
