Liebster Blog Award (and thoughts on Facebook)

You know what I really am starting to like about blogging??  The relationships; forming a pseudo-I-know-you! relationship with people you've never met, but feel like you know because you can read about their lives, is very comforting in its own way.  It's a support system, if you will.  I love following up with the same girls/families week after week (or sometimes day after day).  It makes you feel like, with all the craziness happening if real life, there is a safe place to share and be heard. 

Oh, and my new thought about blogs??  It's kind of like the "thoughtful person's Facebook".  As in, it's Facebook for people who can eloquently (most of the time!) put their thoughts into words.  And, usually, bloggers can spell.  Facebookers generally have trouble with spelling and grammar (than/then, anyone??).  I think Facebook's downfall started when they let anybody and their grandmother join the site.  Quite unfortunate...

I think I keep Facebook around just for entertainment purposes.

Back to the point of this post...

How surprised was I, as I sat waiting for a connecting flight in Denver, to find out I've been given The Versatile Blogger Award.

7 Things About Me
(some of which may be found in my About Me section, but hey, these are the highlights)

1.  I eat potato chips for dinner on a semi-regular basis.
2.  I'm certified to teach middle school English and Social Studies.  I'd really like to give one of those a whirl someday.
3.  I played soccer for 13 years.  Now, I can hardly run a mile.  I'm going to attempt 5K training.  I know.  You've heard this before.
4.  I have a conflict of interest with living in Alaska.  Being that I don't like it.
5.  I'm slightly addicted to the world of True Blood.  If I were the type to dress up for Halloween, I'd be Sookie in a waitress uniform.
6.  Speaking of waitress..I met my husband while I was bartending. 
7.  My favorite food is probably warm cookies right out of the oven.  They must have chocolate in them.
