What we're eating this week:
Not a whole lot. Recovering from a stomach bug over here. The last time I was this sick was in 2014 and, now that I think about it, it took me a full week to get my appetite back together back then. I'm not opposed to food now, but I literally have no idea what we're eating for the rest of the week.
What I'm reminiscing about:
Scout has been sleeping with me this week, which is so sweet. Reminds me of the days BJBB (Before Jett, Before Baby). We even took a nap together at one point (no picture, but this is when he was very annoyed about something last week and trying to get his point across).
What I'm loving:
Wells is turning into such a little boy. I love him getting older much more than I mourn the baby stages. I built him a (poorly-constructed) fort yesterday because he's always trying to make nests in different places with his stuffed animals. He didn't get the appeal quite yet.
What we've been up to:
Scott was able to take the dogs pheasant hunting last weekend, and I'm incredibly grateful that they can do that most weekends. The guilt I feel about moving them out of CO/WY is real.
Jett poses like it's his bird, but Scout always does all the work. It's an interesting dynamic.
What I'm dreading:
I have a dentist appointment next week and I still don't know what I'm going to do with Wells.
I feel like this could've been an easily-solved problem at some point but I just avoid it because I hate asking anyone to watch him (not that I have many options) and asking Scott to come home early is always a gamble because you never know what kind of crisis mode they're in. There is no solution to this problem.
Odds are probably 10:1 that I take him with me, because avoidance is my go-to strategy, and it is the second-worst appointment experience so far.
What I'm working on:
I'm going to be desperately chipping away at my February goals over here, in hopes of completing them before March. I feel like I just lost a week. This is the quickest winter ever.
What I'm watching/reading:
I posted a round-up of shows I've been watching lately on Monday. I also finished a book this past weekend that I'll have more thoughts on in an actual book review post, but it was okay. I wasn't actually impressed? It was a bit hard to follow because it was half memoir and jumped around a lot. Anyone else read it?
What I'm listening to:
Season 3 of Daniel Tiger. Today, I decided it was worth the $4.99 a month to subscribe to PBSKids instead of watching to the same 20 episodes of the first two seasons for free over and over again. Wells only watches two shows and this is one of them so I suppose it's worth it.
What I'm wearing:
Pajamas. All day, every day. For at least the last 5 days.
But I got this Kendra Scott necklace for Valentine's Day. I didn't want something fancy, but a basic piece I could wear most days. I prefer a gold (material) necklace that can be worn all the time, but I didn't want to spend a ton, I suppose. I learned the hard way that you can't wear non-expensive jewelry in the shower, completely ruining a chain a few years ago.
What I'm doing this weekend:
Hopefully being healthy. I don't know, actually. Like, no plans at all. I am praising the Lord that we weren't sick when our friends were in town, though, so it just goes to show what a difference one week can make.
What I'm looking forward to next month:
I deactivated Facebook for Lent and I already feel fantastic.
What else is new:
Last week, I finally completed my January goal of going to the eye doctor. I knew when we came to Pittsburgh that I'd have to go just because, if you have contacts, your prescription is only good for one year. I had stocked up in 2018 and my supply was running low.
I didn't want to do this was because the last time I went to an eye doctor, I ended up in tears.
However, this was great! Usually I dread the optometrist the way most dread the dentist. It was easy to navigate concerning insurance. I liked the doctor and he wasn't all mysterious about the flipping of slides, etc. He wasn't overly friendly but he explained exactly what the issue was with each eye and how he was adjusting my prescription and why. And, a pro tip, TAKE YOUR OLD PRESCRIPTIONS WHEN YOU GO TO A NEW EYE DOCTOR. They will use them as a jumping off point and it makes the whole process much quicker.
Bonus: They ordered my contacts for me, giving me a discount, and they were hundreds of dollars cheaper than the place I went in Colorado.
^^ I thought that warranted a mention because, again, I've been procrastinating it for a year.
Linking up for What's Up Wednesday!
