Oh. This was supposed to go up this morning but it's been one of those days.
+Per usual, I'm watching/reading in disgusted and enamored awe as bloggers post all the things from the Nordstrom sale. I DO NOT GET IT. I like shiny new things too. But why do you buy them all at once? In JULY? And then you're going to turn around and buy new fall things and new winter things in two months? You say you're not but the last few years in blog posts prove that's not true.
Also, with Prime Day being this week, they might as well have made it a blogger national holiday. I've never seen so many round-ups of "this is what I've bought on Amazon in the last 6 months, now you should go buy it too".
Make hay while the sun shines, I suppose.
I've never bought anything from either sale. Unless you consider the sandals from two years ago (that I still wear every day in the summer around the house) that weren't actually part of the Anniversary Sale or the Clorox toilet wand refills that were actually discounted on Amazon the other day, but I needed them anyway.
+Speaking of unnecessary clutter, last week I decided I didn't have enough to do with organizing Wells' birthday party, so I decided to clean out my closet. Which meant that the floor looked like this ^ for 3 or 4 or 5 days, and we can walk through there now but I'm still not completely done.
But I started feeling this unbelievable urge to just get rid of anything and everything that wasn't serving me. I also took another carload of donations to Goodwill. I'd had it stacked in the basement for months and suddenly I just couldn't with that anymore.
+I bought this City Block sunscreen a couple of months ago (at the recommendation of a blogger) and it seems to double as a BB cream because it definitely has smoothing/concealing power. However...it can make you (me) look orange and it doesn't seem to come in different shades. If my face looks different from my neck, that's kind of a no from me. Also, it felt very heavy after I had it on. It didn't make me break out, so that's a huge positive, but it's definitely not an "invisible primer".
So, I stopped wearing the City Block when I had bought this basic Neutrogena sunscreen and realized how light it was and could easily be worn under make-up. I originally just got it to have something on hand for dog-walking, being outside without make-up, etc, since I am out of my old Rodan and Fields Soothe Sunscreen. The Neutrogena feels BETTER than the Soothe under make-up, so I highly recommend it for only $8.
+Also, I've found myself sitting in a Chick-fil-a drive-thru line lately about once a week just because I want a lemonade. Not fries, not chicken, just the lemonade. It's a giant waste of time.
I found these at Giant Eagle, which is a western PA chain grocery store. They are delicious and take the place of a CFA run a few times a week. AND they were 10 for $10 so I bought 10. A little calorie-heavy but so is CFA lemonade, after all.
I have Bachelorette thoughts but I haven't compiled them into a post and I might get to that tomorrow but more likely, I'll throw them together on Sunday the way I did last week.
In case you missed it: Wells' birthday recap was yesterday!
I literally look at ZERO posts about the Nordstrom sale...
ReplyDeleteThat lemonade looks good!! I have absolutely no idea how the pro-bloggers could shop as much as they apparently claim to...where would you put it all? And where would the money come from? No concern for excessive collection of stuff?
ReplyDeleteThe Nordstrom sale posts are definitely vent-worthy. My favorites (insert sarcasm) are when they post teeny tiny pics of a hundred different items they "recommend" and expect us to purchase them with no real proof they are buying them themselves. I mean, I can browse a site with the best of them. I'd much rather a blogger show me two to three items they genuinely love/must have; maybe even already had bought already with photos of them wearing them. A carefully curated collection of true favorites means more to me as a reader than these gigantic collages of things one of their employees have created. The degree of passion I feel on this subject is naturally way too high. ;)
ReplyDeleteI put something in my cart on prime day hit never purchased. I will get it sometime if I want it ha!
ReplyDeleteThat Watermelon Lemonade sounds good. I've never shopped at Nordstrom, sale or not. I personally can't justify spending that kind of money. I'm a little tight. Goodwill, however, is my jam!
