Stuff and Things 8/6

Stuff, Things, etc.

+Did you see the promotion I'm doing for Rodan+Fields this month?  It's worth taking a look at if you like free stuff.

+Scott's perspective on Rodan+Fields:  He's very supportive of me doing this whole MLM business thing because he's witnessed how it's helped me.  I was complaining about how I DON'T UNDERSTAND how so many will spend thousands on make-up every year but not on actually improving their skin.  He knows my motives and intentions are pure.  I'm not in this to make money. I'm not in this to become a millionaire (and even though a few people do reallllllly well in that regard, I'm honestly still not convinced because I'm a skeptic by nature). I just want people to have good skin. Scott thinks it's cost that deters people and I agree that could be a big part of it. He said that if we wouldn't have had the money to spare, I never would've spent that much to begin with.  While I'm inclined to agree, if I had known it would WORK like it has, I would've done whatever I could to pay for it...like given up some of the other stuff:

Borrowed from a fellow consultant's Facebook page

+And in regards to Scott's opinion on my skin, he never said a word when it was bad and he's never mentioned it being good.  He truly just doesn't notice.  Interesting, right?

+Onto other things...

+I called the event at the end of True Detective on Sunday about 30 seconds before it happened. And Scott said, "This isn't Game of Thrones, Kristin." And then...bam.
Also, this show is getting worse and worse with each episode but there's only one more so might as well suck it up. The HBO is already paid for.

+We had the same trashcan for 5 years and finally I decided it was time for a new one.  Sometimes they're just past cleaning.  I bought a new one in February and then, in June, was cleaning it when the insert fell on my thumb and (I swear) almost broke it.  I couldn't bend it for 2 days.  So I reacted as  you would expect and I kicked the trashcan, leaving a dent. By mid-July, it was refusing to close the whole way and I couldn't deal with that and I had to go buy ANOTHER trashcan this week.  I hadn't even taken the sticker off the other one, so maybe I didn't expect it to stick around that long. Scott thinks the dent made the automatic-close function not work.  Something about air pressure equaling out.  I don't know how I feel about that.

  1. Oh no! Your poor thumb. I really need to clean ours so I was hoping you had some great way to do that. And don't even put in my head that I need a new one because I've spent more money on this house this summer than I have in the last two years combined ;)

  2. I think you showed that bin who's boss! S never notices my skin either. Maybe it's a boy thing. Still, it's interesting to think about (back in the day, it's all gone out of the window now!) all the times I worried about some spot or other and he probably didn't even see it. 100% agree with you about spending on skincare though.

  3. I think men don't notice a lot of things.

This reminds me that I should clean the trash can.

  4. I agree, I feel like men don't notice or it doesn't bother them. Love the new garbage can! We have super old ones too, especially in our bathrooms - all the old ones from our apartment days 10+ years ago! Eek!!

  5. This post has made me realize I don't think I've ever cleaned our trashcan out, haha!

  6. We had a crappy trashcan (that was like $50) for several years that we hated... it ripped the bag when you tried to take it out and it just pissed us off, but it was expensive and who wants to spend more money on a trashcan, right? One day at Walmart we were like forget it, let's spend the money, and an agreeable trashcan is life-changing. No one complains about taking out the trash anymore (at least not as much). It's so weird how the little things matter.

  7. i totally agree about the skincare and the cost. if i need something specific and i know it will actually work, the cost is worth it. if i don't know it works, i'm hesitant to try lol. men are so funny about noticing things. my husband totally said the other day 'your skin is much clearer than when we met' and i was just like shut up bro.

  9. I agree that skincare is an important investment. If something works for you, then that is what you should stick with and make it fit in your budget! Ugh trash cans. I need to clean ours.

  10. I think it depends on the guy. Isaiah notices *everything*. My father noticed absolutely nothing.

Regarding skincare, I think it depends on the person. I had horrible cystic acne for years, and at some point, you just flat out get sick of trying everything and having nothing work. It gets expensive, and the one thing about makeup is it never fails you - you can cover up your acne and although it's still there, at least you haven't wasted another $20/50/100/500 on something that may or may not work. I know for me at least, someone could have shoved an absolute miracle product in my face with a thousand photos of proof that it works (because every company claims their product is best but really, I think it just depends on the person) and I still wouldn't have been willing to spend any money on it. It's too discouraging to keep trying and failing at fixing your skin. I'm blessed that I outgrew it, I know many people don't.

We need a new trash can one of these days. Add those to the list of a thousand things I despise spending money on.

  13. OMG the trashcan! Our first married fight was over a trashcan and it resulted in one of us (cough, J) kicking it. I totally understand your perspective on the skincare line. Especially if people are struggling to find something that works.

  14. Scott may be right about the trash can, but oh well. Sounds like a new one was the way to go! ;)
