Friday Recommendations #1

Friday Favorites has never quite worked for me as a regular thing on the blog. Recommendations are much more my style. Let's try and see how many weeks I can keep it going.

1. Let's start off with a bang: The Joe Rogan podcast with Dr. Robert Malone from last week (here is the Spotify link, so if you have Spotify, just search for the episode #1757 of Joe Rogan). Malone is the inventor of mRNA vaccines. It doesn't really matter what you think about Rogan (I honestly don't think about him at all and rarely listen to his show); being someone who requires our scientists to answer questions is a positive good for everyone. Rogan has the platform to do that. If you really want to deep-dive, try the Dr. McCullough episode (#1747) as well.

2. This soup. I've made it a few times over the last couple of years. It does not disappoint.

3. This prenatal yoga. I do this exact series almost every day.

4. Making your own frosting. I am constructing an ice cream cake for my birthday this weekend (okay, and for Wells' half-birthday) and I got a jump on it yesterday during our snow day by making some homemade funfetti cake/frosting.

5. Zoom > Google Meet. I loathe Google Meet. I had a Zoom meeting yesterday and it was so lovely and simple. Google Meet is what we are supposed to use with our students if we have to do virtual learning and it's not user-friendly at all...am I qualified to make this statement? I think so. I spent a lot of time Zoom-teaching last year and when I first opened Meet this year, I was like why is this so hard? It's impossible to easily do what you want to do on there.

6. Some screenshots that seemed timely:

  1. What I think is crazy, is that people don't want to listen to Malone even though he is literally the one who invented the technology. He is being banned everywhere. But you know, follow the science!

  2. I don't like google meets either. I have a Google Classroom set up, but I will use Zoom for our classroom meetings, if we have a Snow/Virtual Learning Day. Zoom is easier to use and control.
