{Currently...we made it to April}

Sharing... recipes! I'd be lying if I didn't say carefully meal-planning these last few weeks hasn't been kind of fun. Most of what I've shared can be made with whatever you have in your pantry:
enchiladas, creamy chicken casserole, and oven-fried potatoes.

Writing... I wrote this about homeschooling yesterday. Clearly, I have thoughts. You can check it out if you need a few ideas for your school-age kiddos.

Wishing... I think we're all wishing for some version the same thing. A return to normalcy would be nice.

Investigating...  the value of only washing my hair every few days. I have always been a die-hard with washing each day because I just feel gross if I don't wash my hair, unless I don't have plans to leave the house or something. I have a sneaking suspicion that everyone is very different in this regard. Going a week without washing your hair? Gross. Going 3 or 4 days? I can see how that'd be fine for a lot of women. It's just not my own reality. So I can truly say "you do you" here.
But this is what I've learned:
I highlighted my hair on March 14th. In an effort to stretch out the life of my highlights, I've only washed it 6 times since. It's helpful that I'm not going anywhere, obviously. What I've noticed is that I have a permanent ache on the back of my head from wearing my hair up. If I wash/dry each day, my hair is down most of the time. If I don't, it's up. Therefore...I will likely go back to washing my hair (or at least conditioning it) every day or every other day. I do not like this ache on the back of my head.
Investigation finished.

Buying... So much stuff. I wrote up a monthly Amazon post a bit ago for next week, but I've ordered multiple things since then (including a vacuum cleaner and a frickin' ball pit because times are desperate) so...I'm not updating it now.
But this arrived yesterday. I started using this eye cream last summer and I really love it. I noticed a difference with it right away, and think it's better than the expensive brands.

Frivolous in the grand scheme of things? Absolutely. But if you need a new eye cream, I 100% recommend.

  1. I DO need a new eye cream--thank you very much! And a ball pit is, well, I'd say ESSENTIAL. All things are relative here!

  2. I've been ordering a lot of stuff online too. My birthday was last week and since I didn't get to go actual shopping, I did online. When I made my list and I didn't even include everything I purchased, I thought people would judge me so hard. I am okay with that though. My bills are paid and all my family's needs are met.
I'm still working at the office and I've been helping my eighth grader with his school work. Thank goodness for supportive teachers. Thankfully, once upon a time, I was a teacher for a short while and I have textbooks and things my children need for this time to complete their work. My tenth grader is completing her things a little at a time. All of her things are due on Fridays. I am grateful I have older children during this time.

  3. I ALWAYS need a new eye cream, esp. a reasonably priced, effective one! YES.

  4. I have also joined the "every other day is more than enough" club with my hair! Not sure that I won't go back once I go outside again...but, who knows?! Happy April!

  5. I "try" not to wash my hair everyday but every other day. I feel it gets greasy if I don't.

  6. I ideally should wash my hair every other day. Every day makes it too dry, if I leave it longer it starts to get greasy. But I often do leave it since I rarely go anywhere.

  7. Ah, but we need at least a couple of things that are frivolous in the scheme of things right now... and some normalcy would be nice, of course. In the meantime, it's so nice to be able to connect with others in an online space to share thoughts about homeschooling and pantry recipes. I do have some potatoes that are ready to be eaten.... Hang in there!

  8. Well, I have settled into an every other day with the hair washing thing, and actually like my hair better the second day as the natural curl tends to relax. Are you pulling your hair back/up too tightly with an elastic band or clips versus a looser scrunchie - that might help? That was my problem when I was much younger with much longer hair. And I myself have indulged in a new face lotion during the pandemic - we'll see if it really lightens spots, as promised. It has been relatively easy to stick to the routine of using it instead of makeup, since I'm not going anywhere.

  9. I really do need to start looking at recipes and figure out new things to make! Also, I have to wash my hair every day too. It just feels gross and itchy if I don't. I know a lot of women that don't have to though, which must be nice. LOL
