Book (singular) in August.

August was not my best month. I half-read, half-enjoyed one book. In fact, it seems disappointing to even share it here. I'm disappointed in myself, in one way, but August usually goes like this for books. And that's okay. I pushed myself too much in July when it came to reading.

So if you're wondering why you haven't seen any book reviews on Instagram it's because you just haven't.

I did read one book in the last four-ish weeks.

It had a lot of promise and then it just stopped having promise.

I try not to, as a rule, say what I'm currently reading because I don't finish a lot of what I start. I have a book from the library right now that is not good, so I probably won't finish it. I just picked up Where the Crawdads Sing after being on the wait list for months, so I'll be starting that sooner rather than later.

However, currently, this is what's on my Kindle...

Circled are the ones I haven't read yet.

Also, at the library the other day, I looked through the shelves of large print books for sale in the lobby. I got this for 50 cents. I rarely ever would read a book like this twice and in large print, that would likely drive me crazy because large print is unnecessary for me (at this point lol) but I can't pass this up. It's one of the best stories I ever read.  I may actually have to re-read it because it's been about 4 years and I don't remember how it ends!
If you want a great fall book, try it. I'd say it's perfect for November.

  1. I've had to return large print books bc I just cant read them comfortably. ooh and Keith gave me a kindle someone gave him to fix and they didnt want anymore. Gonna see if I get interested in reading that way, ha! (I doubt it)

  2. My kindle list is ridiculously long. Funny story (to me) - I can't remember which book it was, but I was waiting impatiently for one to come in on my hold list at the library. I happened to see it on the Large Print shelf and snapped it up ... only to feel guilty the whole time I had it and read it as quickly as I could. I guess (again, to me) it's like using a handicapped stall when I'm in a hurry but hurrying even more in case someone who needs it comes in. That was several years ago and my eyes wouldn't be mad if I started using the large print on the regular now.

  6. I've had months like this where I have only read one book. Boo that it wasn't that great! Someone just recommended to me Never Have I Ever which is on your kindle. I want to read Christmas Shopaholic and The Family Upstairs too! :)

  7. LOL about the large print. Not at that point yet either but getting closer, which makes me super sad. :D I feel like most of what I've read lately is more so-so then normal and I'm not sure if it's me or not. My mood has been cranky, which makes me super critical versus enjoying the ride. I hate that. But again, some books are just plain awful too. Here's to us both finding some books to rave about this month!

  9. OK - I have to check that book out now! You've intrigued me.
I NEED large print but they just make it look so unappealing with the font or layout - or something!!! Why I love my Kindle

  12. I'll be interested to see what you think of Crawdads, too. My mom is currently reading it, so I'll probably borrow her copy when she is finished. What I've read, it seems like opinions are pretty evenly mixed.

  13. I really enjoyed the writing of Crawdads but it was definitely not an "Enjoyable" reading experience in the sense that it was such a sad and lonely book. Still though, quite a story. I will be curious to see if you like those books on your kindle...I LOVE the Veronica Speedwell series SO much but not sure if you will. lol.

  14. I started Crawdads, but didn't finish it. I heard you have to push through the first half of the book though. I will try it again. Read The Marriage Lie!

  16. Verity is waiting for me on Kindle too. I got Never Have I Ever at the same time as several others so only got through 20% before it got returned, but I really want to read the rest! I like the premise of The Marriage Lie- adding that one! Hope you have a better reading month this month!
