A television mood

It's not a secret that I love t.v.  I mean, movies I can take or leave.  Preferably leave actually because I don't like going to the theater.  I like sitting on my own couch.  T.V. is at home, so it's perfect for my introverted self.  Since we've been in Colorado, I've made my way through Gossip Girl (twice…background noise whilst painting the living room), The Office (for about the 5th time), the first half of Once Upon a Time (I'd already watched it all once), New Girl, and the list goes on.

That being said, there's a lot of shows I just can't do and I've gone into this in greater detail before. Let's add to that list…

I tried Gilmore Girls last week and it was okay.  I think I got to season one, episode 12.   Then I stopped.

I tried Twin Peaks and gave up on that after one episode.  I hear about these shows from reliable sources (i.e. people whose taste I trust) and I always feel like I'm missing something if I'm disappointed.

This past weekend, I started Friday Night Lights again because #1:  I was painting again so I just needed familiar noise.  #2  It's fall.  #3  I love the reference to FNL in New Girl.  "Things to do other than have sex:  Watch Friday Night Lights".  I've been thinking about it since that New Girl episode weeks ago.

Also, Tim Riggins.  Sometimes, when Scott's not around, I tell Jett his name was supposed to be TimRiggins.  I think he understands.

Also, let's talk about Homeland.  I have a feeling it will be a fantastic season.  These were our thoughts.

Oh Rupert.  We both love you.

And The Walking Dead.  I haven't watched the new episode yet.  Or the new episode of Once Upon a Time.  There's only so much time in a given Sunday night!

Or, rather, the reason is because I was watching The Affair and it was so spectacularly wonderful that I didn't have the patience for zombies after a storyline like that.  It's one of those stories that gives you bits and pieces of information, from different perspectives, just a little at a time.  Those are the best kind.   Did you watch?

Thank goodness there's no school today.  Plenty of time to get all caught up on things.  Like grading papers.  And t.v.

  1. Yay for no school!! Gilmore Girls takes a special breed of woman I think. I enjoyed the series but I also watched it SO MANY YEARS ago that being a little naive helped. I've actually been binging it the last two days because I'm so freaking sick and it's something I don't mind if I fall asleep in since I've already seen it.

  2. Being in a hotel means I have been watching Netflix and Hulu like crazy. I can't wait for normal tv again.

  3. I love Gilmore Girls, so I am sad you didn't, lol. I keep trying to watch Friday Night Lights, and can't seem to get into it...and I think I need to re-watch Gossip Girl again!

  4. I watched The Affair last weekend - it was On Demand - and loved it. Totally engrossed, I can't wait for more.

Friday Night Lights is one of my favorite shows ever, especially the earlier seasons.

I tried one episode of The Gilmore Girls. eh.

  5. FNL is one of my most favorite shows ever. My friend Tonya is obsessed with Tim Riggins as well. I'm going to tell her what you say to the dog. She'll love it!

I haven't watched Gilmore Girls and I don't know if I will. The husband and I started catching up on The Blacklist. So, so good!

  6. I've watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls just because when it hit Netflix the blog world exploded, but I just can't really get into it, either. I think it's one of those sentimental shows that if you watched it and loved it 10 years ago, you'll watch it and love it again...kinda like childhood movies...but if you never watched it before (as I didn't) then it's honestly pretty boring.

  7. Is that Joshua Jackson? 15 years ago I had the biggest crush on him. I am glad he is working again. I don't have Showtime, but I think I would like this show.

  8. So I may be back in line after watching TWD. This season actually looks like it's going to be a good one. OUAT is taking interesting artistic license with the Frozen story. I'm on the fence but still all in. I'm happy to say that I'm back on Showtime (seriously, it's like a drug) and will start watching The Affair asap. I like stories that work that way.

  11. I haven't tried the Affair yet, perhaps I need to! We just started watching season 1 of Homeland recently and I can see where I can totally get in to it too!

  12. so Friday Night Lights is on my list, along with Doctor Who. I've kinda been wanting to watch Twin Peaks so we'll see.

I just heard about The Affair and Love Joshua Jackson, bt was kind turned off just by the name and the expected content. so we'll see.
    Love Love Love Homeland!

and I'm totally bummed you couldn't get in to Gilmore Girls.
I say a good cast and writers are totally epic until like the second season of most series..you got to get the chemistry correct. very few shows are totally epic from the beginning you know?

  13. I prefer TV to movies these days. I just don't want to sit through a movie anymore. Right now I'm catching up with Call the Midwife, while Brandon rewatches Kyle XY for some reason...
