Hey, welcome to 2012

Sweater: LOFT // Dress:  T.J. Maxx

I've been planning on buying a maxi skirt or dress since 2012.  Really, I have.  The stipulations were "not cost more than $20" and "not look frumpy".  I couldn't find one, but maybe I didn't look all that hard. A few weeks ago I came across this maxi dress at T.J. Maxx.  I would've gone for navy blue, but they didn't have it in my size.  I grabbed this black and white one and it was kind of tight at first but loosened up throughout the day.  Also, I threw this sweater over it because I figured a body-con-on-top maxi dress wasn't appropriate for school.  However, I know maxi dresses/skirts are appropriate for school because I've watched every teacher but me wear them at my school in Missouri and the same here too….and no wonder:  This was the most comfortable thing I've ever worn.  It was only $19.99 so I might go back and comb the racks for another.  Maybe in blue or green?

I've gotten a few questions about Skirtember.  Remember Skirtember?  Last year was a failure for me because I didn't have as many skirts as I thought I did.  Dresses are so easy for work here though, so I've consciously been buying more over the last few months.  However, there is no Skirtember in the works at this time.

In a funny coincidence though, I realized I've worn a skirt or dress every day this week.  It's still hot, so pants are quite out of the question. Tomorrow is jeans day though.  Wearing jeans gives me a headache.

  2. I wasn't a fan of maxi skirts until recently (to be fair I've only been a fan of dresses in general for about a year), but I have two maxi skirts and two maxi dresses now and I agree, they are awesome. So comfy!

    Have a great weekend!

  3. I have to purchase a maxi dress. Perhaps soon but I am short and I fear the maxi will make me look as if I'm drowning. Please tell me that my blogger account is fixed for now. Estherdavison@gmail.com

    I own no maxi dresses.

  7. I've been wanting to try a maxi skirt or dress for a couple years now, too, but those couple of years have all been in Sitka and I flat out do not wear skirts or dresses here more than about once a year. Also, every time I show Isaiah a photo of a maxi dress/skirt and ask what he thinks, the answer is the typical "Ehhh...I'd have to see it on you, I guess." Brat.

  8. Cute! I have a couple maxi dresses and a maxi skirt. They ARE super comfy, and frankly, they just look down right teacher-ish. Haha :)

I was just thinking about Skirtemeber the other day. I had such fun doing it last year, but honestly, most of my skirts and dresses are the same as last year, and I'd feel awkward sharing them again!

  9. True story: I read this post at 3 am when it went up haha. I've officially found the downside of apartment living: 2:30 am fire alarms. Sooo when we got back in after, I obviously couldn't fall asleep and saw this on Twitter. Now that I told you a crazy story that you're probably just rolling your eyes at, I just looove the idea of a maxi dress with a sweater over it! You look so pretty!

  10. I was the same way with maxi skirts/dresses when they first came out. I thought they were kinda frumpy looking. I bought a skirt this year at Target that was super comfortable and a dress at Old Navy. Felt like I was wearing pjs both times I wore them to school!

  11. I saw a pin the other day that said 'Lets be honest, maxi dresses are just crotchless yoga pants' lol. I am a big fan of them too. I find so many at TJMaxx.
