Stuff and Things. 4/17

Things I'm loving edition…

Sweet friends sent us a care package from Pennsylvania.

Pears.
The kids at school get them for breakfast and never seem to want them, so I collect a lot of pears.  They're amazing and I can't believe I've wasted so much time trying to like apples.

The Heat.
Such a funny movie.  We've watched it twice in the last few weeks.

Nautical things.

Scott thinks it means I wish he was in the Navy.  No.  I think it's related back to my crush on Captain Hook.  Also, nautical colors.  Teal, navy, and cream are my cup of tea.

Speaking of…there was storm coverage during Once Upon a Time on Sunday.  Like, during ALL of it.  Where can I watch it?  (I have trouble solving simple 1st world problems.)

Killing Kennedy.  LOVING this book.  If you like U.S. history, it's imperative that you read it.  The movie cannot be found on Netflix.  Any advice where I can watch it?  (Again, the 1st world thing…)
Actually, there's lots of books that I've been loving lately, but you'll have to wait for April to be over to hear about them.  Keep biting your nails in anticipation.

I so appreciate all of you who are reading this.  Yesterday's post was based on advice that a friend gently pounded into me this week.  Can you relate?  I know that my job makes a difference in this world.  I've never been more sure about that than I am after this particular school year.  However, I spend so much of the week feeling like crap.  When I finally feel better again, it's Sunday afternoon and the vicious cycle continues.  (Why wasn't it like this for the last 3 years?  I can't figure it out!)
1 1/2 more months….

  1. Because of you, I JUST ordered Killing Kennedy. So thank you. Did you read the Stephen King book about the Kennedy assassination? I really liked that one too.

And any time you want something specific from PA, just let me know! I'm more than happy to send you some stuff. :)

  2. I LOVE Captain Hook.
Oh & if you have HULU you can watch it on there. That's how we watch it- the new TV episodes come onto HULU the very next day! It's pretty awesome.
Other than that, try Once Upon a time's station's website. sometimes they'll have full episodes up.

Not spam, I swear. HAHA. That's where we'd usually watch shows that weren't on Netflix before we got HULU.
You just pick & choose which ones work. It's iffy but 97% of the time you'll be able to find a good one for free.

  4. Oooh, I need to add Killing Kennedy to my list! That is so sweet that PA friends sent you goodies. We're originally from Buffalo, NY and every now and then family will mail us hot dogs we can only get in West New York...and now, I want them!

  5. I can always send you PA things, just holler!

Killing Kennedy by who? The link is dead...there are quite a few books with that title. hahaha

  6. I'm pretty sure your job didn't feel that way in Alaska because you were looking for purpose in a lot of your "every day" things to get through the deployment. I know he wasn't gone all of that time--but I think that probably had a lot to do with it. Also--because when you weren't at work, you were alone.

    I love that anchor bracelet!

I'm disappointed there isn't a picture of Scout in this one ;) Also--pears are amazing :)

  7. I really want to read Killing Kennedy! I have the preview on my iPad and need to buy the actual book. I also love everything nautical (hence my anchor tattoo lol).

  8. I do really like pears--we have some pear trees in our backyard that had a TON last year...that was probably the first time I actually remembered the fruit in quite a while!
Captain Hook is a reasonable reason to like anchors...I can understand that. And I would have been so frustrated if there was storm coverage during the show!
