Stuff and things. 1/28

1.  USAA sent me a new debit card.  Thanks, Target.  Now I have to memorize a new number.

2. Scott is knee-deep in college.  6 graduate classes.  All math and chemistry.  This semester is going to seem like a deployment, in a strange way.  And honestly, for as much time as he'll spend on campus, I'm really lucky I have a job to keep me busy.  There will be more on the job tomorrow…I still need to tell you how I got it in the first place!

3.  It was 19 degrees yesterday and won't be much better today.  Also, I haven't had a haircut since October.  It's starting to show.

4.  I found myself explaining to Scott what a Naked palette is.  You see, some people I work with use them.  They brought them to work recently and, finally, I got to see what one looks like in real life.  You know, not just through my computer screen.  I really want to believe you all when you talk about how amazing $52 eyeshadow is..but I see what these people do with it.  Based on the Naked palette in live action, I totally wouldn't buy one.  (I think Scott gave a big sigh of relief when he realized the upshot of the story wasn't "I want one".)

5.  A dog.

6.  And again…

7.  Scout isn't as snuggly as he used to be.  He's "free and independent" (to take a chapter title from a Little House book). I don't like it.  I'm going to trade him in.  I require a snuggly dog.

Any stuff or things to share?

P.S. I really appreciate all the interest in yesterday's post about breakfast…for next week, I'm going to put together some lunch ideas.  That's where I struggle.  (Really…I think I'm going to take oatmeal for lunch today..)

Also, Don't forget that this is the last week to shop for the Sweetheart Swap!  Packages should be mailed out this weekend!

Sweetheart Swap

(And that reminder is more for me than it is for you, because I need to get myself to a store…)

  1. Make up is just not in my budget either. Kids also start growing and become less cuddly.. and thats when you decide to get another ;)

  2. I'm with you on #1. My new Chase card came Friday... I still haven't activated it and changed all my payment accounts. This semester is going to be a rough one for me too. I'd die if it was math and chem heavy though. I have the Naked original and although I do really like it, it's not at all worth $50.

  3. I really wanted a Naked Palette for Christmas from my sister, and she got me a Tarte gift set that I love, but I am still so curious about the Naked shades {there's a sentence I never thought I'd write!}, hmmm.

  4. I am not arty enough to purchase $52 in eye shadow.

  5. I don't get the point of spending that much money on makeup either. I use mine til I can't then replace.

Good luck Scott on all that math and chemistry. Aye ye ye !

  6. It's -9 out right now. Way too cold for me! I had the Naked palette a couple years ago until Glenda ate it. It was a sad day but my sister got me the Naked 2 for our birthday and I love it! I only use a few certain shadows for every day so I think when I use up all of those I need to look into buying individual shadows because I really do love them. Other than that my make up is from the drug store!

  7. I haven't had a haircut since October either, ready to chop it off this weekend!

I feel your pain about not seeing much of your spouse, between work and graduate school for Kyle unless I'm at his office I rarely see him.

  8. I've been lusting after a Naked Palette for several years now--but I honestly don't know why. I've never allowed myself to pull the trigger. I think it's mostly because I find that I'm able to get similar looks with much cheaper eye shadows. I'm probably the only "beauty blogger" who doesn't own one. And I'm okay with that.

Give Scout time--he'll come back around on the snuggling. Dogs hit their "teenage years" and suddenly think they don't want their human. Bailey went through something similar--and now I can't get her off of me :)

We need to start a "lonely wives" club or something. I seriously wish you lived closer. The whole "never see your husband thing" is easier with friends around. Not that I would know.

  9. Some of my classmates at beauty school had the Naked Palette and oohed and aahed over it and loved it...and I did not personally see how it was so incredibly (expensively!) awesome. Perhaps why they were in beauty school they had a love for that kind of thing...

  10. I can't handle $52 eyeshadow. I bought an ELF one with 36 colors at Target for $1.80 so surely I can achieve something similar, right?

  12. I bought the Naked palette a few years back, the first one. I like it just because it's so versatile and I tend to gravitate toward mostly neutral colors these days, BUT I really hate that 80% of the shades are shimmery. And I've heard that the Naked 2 and 3 are the same way. If they could come out with one with COMPLETELY matte shades across the board, I'd buy another one.

  13. Ugh USAA sent me a new card for the same reason. What really pisses me off if Target is waaaay on the other side of town so I hardly ever go there anymore and I decided to go once in like 6 months and of course it was when all that bologna happened. Boo.

  14. My bank sent me a new one too!! So annoyed! I wish my dog would be independent and not so obsessed with me. She is only allowed out if I'm supervising her because she will only listen to me now if she needs to be disciplined.

  15. Ugh I know what you mean about a haircut... I got all of mine chopped in July and it was waaayyy too short. I haven't gotten it cut since then and it's finally down to my shoulders, so I reeeally don't want to! I agree with you about the snuggly dog... the cat we got in November will NOT let us rub her belly or sit on our lap, I want to trade her in, too haha!

  17. No school for us today because of dangerous wind chills. We already have a two hour delay for tomorrow for the cold. Ugh.

I'm glad I stopped yesterday to do some shopping for the sweetheart swap. I think I just need a couple more things, plus my homemade valentine, and I'm good to go! :)

  18. I got a new debit card too. Then my bank never sent me the new PIN and I had to go INSIDE the bank to change it. Worst ever.
