Scarf weather

Sweater: LOFT ($15) // Jeans: Target ($12) // Scarf: Gift from Micah // TOMS

I've seen a lot of people in scarves lately.  I, honestly, never left the house without one in Alaska.  This is the first I've worn here.  It was about 70* on Saturday, so it was fitting.

I went to Wal-Mart on this day.  I needed to buy wine, 24 composition books, and make use of the Coinstar machine.

We'd always avoided Coinstar in favor of banks because banks, when cashing your change, don't steal 10% of your money.  However, a friend told us that now Coinstar gave gift certificates instead of cash if you wanted and there was no service charge.

I took our giant change jar to Wal-mart.  Actually, I double-plastic-bagged the change.  I didn't want to be walking around with an empty jar.

So I put in the change, and I looked at my options for gift certificates.  We'd been planning on, you know, a WAL-MART one because that's what our friend said he got.  But no.  Apparently they rotate the options.  My options included: Southwest airlines (I've never been on one of their planes), an online X-box store (we do not allow video games around here...it's a personal rule I have), Chili's, Applebee's, and Starbucks.  The last time we'd been to Chili's was in Alaska, and the last time we went to Applebee's was in Montana.

We are now the owners of a very large Starbucks gift certificate.

Really.  I'll be saving money.

  1. I love scarves! Unfortunately, I've been having a ton of trouble working this one scarf in to my outfits and it's throwing me off.
you can never have too much starbucks. I've had two pumpkin spice lattes this week. I know i'm conforming to the blogger stereotype, but they're just so yummy!

  2. 70 degrees is totally scarf weather! I've been wearing one for the last few days but now it's going to be in the 80's again. Sad. Haha, we also have a double bagged bag of coins! I keep telling Dylan we need to take it somewhere but he likes having a heavy bag of coins in the house that just sit there. At least you get a lot of Starbucks out of it!

  3. I didn't know they rotated gift cards! I'll have to keep that in mind if we use one for our mounds of change.

  4. I wouldn't object at all to you sending some of that Starbucks card my way ;)

    Also, YAY scarf weather!!!!!
And that is NOT a skirt! YOU FAIL! I'm impressed you made it as long as you did. There's no way I could've done it.

  5. That is a lot of change!! And kind of random gift card choices, but hey, I'm sure you'll use up all that starbucks money eventually! Last time we had a lot of change...we rolled it all up in coin sleeves that Angel had for some reason...and it's still sitting on our dresser. Been about a year...

  6. I didn't realize CoinStar did that! I'll have to tell my husband. Don't feel bad - he goes in with a gallon bucket. Try carrying that around afterwards. :)

I'd be perfectly happy with a Starbucks card... my husband would not :)

  9. Being cornered into getting a huge Starbucks gift card sounds like such a fantastic predicament to face.

  10. $84 ticket to Southwest would have gotten you one way...so good thing you didn't pick that unless you were leaving MO for good and didn't plan on coming back. I always use the bank but I roll them myself...sometimes, when I have the time, its relaxing to me (weird I know).

  11. OH I would have been PISSED! I mean, on one hand you have coffee for a good long while. On the other? $84 to walmart would have been nice.

I'm totally loving your outfit, by the way. I am a huge fan of scarf weather but can't really pull on off.

  13. Cute outfit! I would've been furious. I love Chili's but I think that large of a gift card to Chili's would've been ridiculous and unnecessary.

  14. 70 is NOT scarf weather. 70 is sandals and no-jacket weather. Crazy southerner. ;)

  15. I'm glad you finally got to wear the scarf. :)

And that change machine gift certificate tidbit is great information!

  16. We save up our change and cash it in before we go on vacation for spending cash. I have a 5 gallon water jug that we put our change into. Last time we went to Hawaii, we cashed in right around $250. It;'s been over a year since then, so who knows what we will get next.
