Whatever it is I'm wearing these days

I rarely buy clothes anymore.  In fact, most of what you see here are just the same outfits recycled again and again (I suppose they'd call that "remixing" in the fashion blog world).  Most of it is from Target.  I'm not really proud of this, but it's all I'm tempted to buy because not trolling the mall for sales (it rarely happens) and I'm not paying full price from Nordstrom's for t-shirts or sweaters.  Nothankyou.

But guess what else?  I took this picture before school on Monday.  Progress!  Springtime is perhaps coming to the tundra at last.  I mean, it's supposed to be 45* this week.  And sunny!  ...before it snows again next week.

Sweater: Loft / Tank: Old Navy / Scarf: Target / Pants: Gap / Boots: Decree from JCP
I'm feeling absolutely uninspired.  There's nothing I want to wear.  (Except pajamas.  Pajamas sound nice.)

I've cleaned out most of my closet, just leaving the clothes I need for the next month in there.  Things that I can wear to school, warm-weather-ish clothes for traveling south, my gym clothes in my dresser, etc.  Just enough that I can cram into a giant suitcase and live off of it for a month and a half.  And then, when I look for something to wear, I feel like, "Wow, I have, like, no clothes and nothing to wear".
And then I think, "Well, you only left the stuff you intend on wearing and DO actually WEAR. Maybe you just need to get rid of the stuff you never, ever, ever wear and your closet would be this sparse clean all the time."

^That's a lie.  My closet isn't clean.  Half the clothes, and just as messy as ever.

Those superfluous clothes really make the closet look full without any substance.  It's been a reality check, to say the least.

I was in Old Navy over the weekend and I got 3 tops.  They had a TON on clearance and I was tempted, but it just seemed like it was all cheaply-made.  I mean, there's a reason they'll sell a shirt for $5 right?  (Don't worry, I still bought one.) Anyway, that was a disappointing shopping trip.

What are you buying for spring?  Where are you shopping?  Inspire me!

  1. I'm the same way. If I do pick anything up is usually at Target just because I'm there. If I do go to the mall I spend most of the time appalled at the prices and then just end up wandering around kitchen stores.
I'm happy to hear it's going to get up to 45* for you!

  2. I've been in such a fashion rut, I just pull out whatever sweater I haven't worn yet that week and call it a day. I definitely need to revamp my wardrobe, but I can't justify spending a ton of money on that right now.

  3. I buy a butt load of baby clothes and hardly anything for myself anymore. I need to spice up my wardrobe a bit... and also get rid of the clothes I never ever wear, too.

  5. I need to replace some of my T-shirts and tanks, I'll do that quick and dirty at The Gap. I also always hunt in Ross for spring dresses to add to my dress wardrobe.

  6. Im impressed that you have already cleaned out closets! I keep thinking about it...then watch tv instead. The weeks leading up to a move are always so tough: how much can I put away and organize now, or should I just let the movers take it all then throw stuff away as I unpack 3 months later?

Both my Easter dresses were from ON and I bought 2 more striped Tshirts on clearance.

  7. I wish I could swap clothes right now but this MO weather is just up and down...I'm hoping within the next weekish its going to get warmer!

  8. I have such little faith that the temperature will ever stay above 70 I haven't bothered to unpack my summery clothes. Which are in the basement. 3 flights of stairs away. I might just wear sweaters and jeans until next winter.

  9. I've actually been kind of obsessed with clothes shopping lately. Not that I'm buying a ton of stuff, but I'm drooling over a ton of stuff and I've done two Forever 21 orders since the beginning of the year. It's one way I stay sane in this town...attempting to be better dressed than everyone else. The checkers at the grocery store this morning were all in sweatpants and hoodies. AT WORK. Same at the hardware store yesterday. People have literally quit trying in this town.

  10. I want to go shopping, but I need to get rid of some clothes first. My closet is a hot mess and I prob don't wear half of it. Plus most of my shorts are too big now. Yay! I'll probably still just hit up Target when I finally do go shopping...but I do dream of time alone at the fantastic Malls that are here.

  12. I actually am having the same problem. I really don't want to wear anything in my closet. One more day, and I will have successfully worn leggings to work every day this week (except for jeans day). :-/ I love my leggings, but I desperately want to wear dresses and flip flops. It's 34 here today. :(

  13. Yeah, between Target, ON and F21 (maybe a little H&M thrown in for spice) you can pretty much catalog my entire wardrobe. Now that it's trying so hard to warm up here in the PNW I've been living in maxi skirts with a tucked in tank with either my denim jacket or a knotted chambray - it's the new uniform.

And of course, always a scarf (the one you're wearing in the pic is the one I wear at least once a week!)

  14. I now have no clothes that fit so I've decided that my answer to clothes this spring will have to be dresses and skirts. They're just easier.

  15. Ooh cute! It was around 50 degrees here today, I believe, but I'm hoping it will get warmer. I'm tired of being so cold!!

I haven't really bought many new clothes lately, though I want to get some capris for the summer. I tend to go to Lane Bryant a lot...and I do like Target!

  16. I love how bright your pants are against everything else! I'm really on and off with clothing! Most days, I make myself look presentable enough that I won't be embarrassed if someone takes pictures at school and they end up on Facebook.
Some days, I'm honestly couldn't care less. Today I wore yoga pants and a t-shirt--I didn't even have to change to workout.

  17. I hate when brands start making cheaply made clothes! it's such a bummer.
Forever21 is getting bad about that too!
ANd I bought a shirt from old navy forever ago that was like that except I didn't realize it was like that until I actually put it on. Such a disappointment.

I'm glad you're finally warming up some though. Stupid Alaska!

  19. I'm currently not buying clothes, either. And I'm never that entranced with Old Navy. I like the plaid shirt you're wearing in the next post, but it always seems like I see interesting Old Navy clothes on bloggers, and when I walk into the store, apparently all the bloggers have bought all the interesting clothes and nothing in the whole entire store fits me, anyways.
But the reason I'm not buying clothes is because I'm going shopping in July, in Malaysia. They have awesome clothes there.
