There is...
...an Iditarod starting on Saturday. This was 3 years ago.
It goes without saying that I was cold (and probably improperly-dressed, but that's not the point).
There is...
...a discrepancy in this household: I liked Argo and Scott didn't. What'd you think? (He said it was way too unrealistic and, if you research it, he's pretty much right. )
...some serious lack of inspiration when it comes to menu planning around here. What do YOU make for dinner on busy weeknights? I'm stuck in a rut.
There is just something about plaid that makes me happy. I don't know why this is. Do you have a favorite pattern you wear time and time (and time) again?
The bags under my eyes are frightening. Day 11 of sickness here. |

Haha Lo should have taken a pic!
ReplyDeleteAn outdoor carnival in February in Alaska?? What is WITH those people?!?
ReplyDeleteI'm really into plaid right now, too.
I'm also lacking dinner inspiration. I'm so tired of everything right now....
Fur Rondy is one of my favorite Alaska things! It's just so Alaskan. Therefore I love it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it is so freakin cold in february that it makes it hard to be worth it.
But I still love it.
We (Kev) felt the same way about THe Hurt Locker a few years back. Even as simple as not being in the right camo for the year it was supposed to take place drove him crazy, not to mention the big mission parts that would just have never happened that way.
ReplyDeleteYou look great in plaid. I just bought two more striped shirts from ON to add to the 2984032984 striped shirts I own.,
I <3 you.
ReplyDeleteI always thought the Idiatrod was silly.
I'm sorry you're still sickly :(
And go here for foods: http://fantasticalsharingofrecipes.blogspot.com/p/recipe-list.html
I love plaid! Though I tend to wear stripes a lot. I'm actually wearing stripes right now...
ReplyDeleteWho would put up a carnival in the winter in ALASKA?
I wish we had a huge carnival like that. I'm so sick of having NOTHING to do. I'd even brave the cold at this point, only if it wasn't raining though. (Which it is. Every day.)
ReplyDeleteSomeday I'd like to see the start of the Iditarod. Only once, though, just so I can say I saw it.
I made potato gnocchi last night...it was pretty fast. 1 c. water, 1 c. instant potato flakes, 1 c. flour, and 1 1/2 T of egg replacer (you could probably use an egg and decrease the water a smidge?). Mix into a dough, roll into a long thin snake, cut into 1" long pieces, boil in vegetable broth for 2-3 minutes until they float, serve with pasta sauce (any kind is good). Next time I'll tweak it a little bit and add some spices to the "dough" since it just tasted like plain pasta, but it was still decent. And it was really fast to make.
That carnival does not look like fun especially in cold weather. As far as quick meals I always use my crock pot for busy night. Monday we were both home late so in the morning I put a pork shoulder in the crock pot and we did pulled pork sandwiches, so easy!
ReplyDeletevery pretty Kristin

I love that shirt! I got one similar at Target recently. :-) Also, I think it's kinda crazy that there's an outdoor carnival in Alaska. I HATE cold so I would definitly not be going.
ReplyDeleteI'm always stuck in a rut. I default to tacos. Always some variation on them!
ReplyDeleteUm, there's snow on the ground at that carnival. And people actually GO????!!!
love the plaid shirt! i am not a fan of walking around in the cold. and I want to see argo!
ReplyDeleteWe had frozen pizza. Hows that for a rut? I'm ready for warm weather for sure. And outdoor carnivals.
ReplyDeleteFajitas have become a new meal on our standard menu rotations, easy and delicious! Also on pinterest there is a great recipe for butternut squash mac & cheese that is surprisingly quick to make and also very yummy, and the squash tricks you into thinking it's healthy!!
ReplyDeletePlaid is also my weakness, it's just so darn cute!
I had that same thing haplen to me! Wore a button up from Maurices to school and a 5th grade girl had on the same shirt! Never wore it again!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so we've had a SUPER busy week with work and my BIL is in town as well, so on Sunday I looked over our favorite recipes and picked out the EASIEST ones that I knew we'd all enjoy. We ate crockpot meatballs on Monday, chicken kabobs (with mushrooms, pineapple, sweet peppers sprinkled with garlic salt) on Tuesday, and hamburgers with all sorts of toppings last night. Greg RAVED about how he has LOVED the dinners we've had this week. Guess it goes to show... Easy can be the best, right?? ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of Iditarod? Greg has this CRAZY notion that he'd love to do a dogsled race someday before he dies. Umm, srrsly?
