Thoughts on...My Workout

I started talking about body image on here awhile ago.

Since then, I've drafted an awful lot of blog posts on this topic that have never been finished or published.  It's a touchy subject.  I don't know how I'll be perceived for talking about all this.  When it comes down to it, I'm probably one of the "skinny" girls.  But geez, I do work my butt off to stay that way.

I'm focused on cardio at least 4 times a week and toning in between.  Cardio includes Spin, RIPPED, Body Blast, and Turbokick.  Body Blast is a lot like RIPPED.  It's intervals of toning and cardio for about an hour.

At home, I've been doing Core Fusion Body Sculpt yoga for 20-50 minutes almost everyday.  The DVD I have is broken into 5 ten-minute segments, each with a different focus.  I almost always get through the first two segments before school in the morning.  Sometimes I don't have the time or attention span for all of it, even in the evening.  Ideally, I'd do the entire 50 minute routine every day I'm not doing cardio/toning at the gym.  I wish I could take one of these classes for real.

This is what I'm hoping to accomplish over the next 10 weeks (until school is out, new gym schedules are created, and my schedule allows for wiggle room)
Monday:  RIPPED
Tuesday:  Core Fusion DVD
Wednesday:  Turbokick or Spin
Thursday:  Core Fusion DVD
Friday:  Body Blast
Saturday:  RIPPED or Spin (or Turbokick if I feel like driving to base.  I really like the Turbokick on base.)
Sunday:  ???  The only thing (out of the potential 3 gyms I could go to) offered is hot yoga.

As you can see, Spin is usually my fallback when I don't feel like doing anything else.  Unfortunate

There is also a MWF Spin class at 5:15am if I get really desperate feel like doubling up.  (I doubled up on Friday and it felt great!)  I used to do this class when Scott was home because he was up at that time for work anyway.  Now, my evenings are very boring/lonely, so night classes seem to work better.

I think I've said it before:  I'm gonna sit on the couch watching T.V. and eating cookies anyway.  I might as well delay it by a couple of hours by going to the gym first.

What's your workout like?  Is there something I need to be doing that I'm not?  Thoughts on hot yoga?  I'm not sure how brave I'm feeling.

  2. I wish I could do those classes! I switch off most days from running outside or one the treadmill to work out dvd's. I do some of the p90x cardio ones and then some jillian micheals ones. I've always wanted to try hot yoga but there isn't one I've found close and that wasn't crazy expensive!

  4. You're so awesome for getting off your ass & working out. Unfortunately my workout is a lot like Kate's...non existent :/

I really need to work this cause my thighs aren't shrinking on their own. Keep up the great work!

  5. @Kate @ Daffodils, your comment made me laugh! That's pretty much how I feel.

Kristin, I'm glad you're brave enough to talk about this. It's hard for, dare I say, "girls like us" to talk about weight issues. I've always been thin, and now at 29, my body is not the same. I have always been able to eat what I want and not work out. I WANT to work out and eat better to be healthy, but there's still that picky eater inside of me. Not to mention that I have no energy and I love TV. Fortunately for me, a teacher at school started a class on Wednesdays after school. This gives me no excuse for not working out. It's modeled after Zumba. We dance, and I actually love it, which is good because the rest of the week, my ass is planted right here on the couch.

  6. I've done hot yoga before and Im getting ready to take it again this month. I LOVE it! Its a different kind of sweating, not like I'm going to die from working so hard, more of a sweating out the toxins. I always feel 1000 times better when I leave a class. I do it to compliment my running to stretch me out. It really is good!
