What's up Wednesday- August

Praise be, August is done. Bring on the plaid pumpkins. Maybe fall will show up in a month's time now.

What we're eating this week:

I've been following a formula for dinner each week...salads one day, Mexican one day, a sheet pan one day, etc. Scott has about Had It with my sheet pans though, so I am in need of fresh ideas. Last night, I put together an enchilada bake of sorts. But really, I'm out of ideas, so suggest away!

What I'm reminiscing about:

Not being hot and sweaty? Actually, I won't complain about the weather, but I'll say that I get really sad during Augusts that I'm not going back to school. However, the fact that everything is so different than it used to be is a blessing for my mental health. I want the school experience of 10 years ago, not the one of 2022. There's not a lot to miss right now so I'd definitely rather be at home.

What I'm loving:

These are some products I've been loving lately.

What we've been up to:

Rolling in the new tech over here.

Those numbers are all over the place because I put it on at like 3pm for the first time.

I, in the year of our Lord 2022, got a Fitbit

And I caved and got a new baby monitor. The house is small so I told myself it wasn't necessary. But as she gets more mobile, it might be necessary. I used it a lot when Wells was more cognizant in the crib, when he could move around more. Anyway, our old monitor was almost 4 years old and while it "worked", it held a charge for exactly 9 seconds and part of it actually broke off years ago.

What I'm dreading:

The day Sutton stops sleeping through the night.

Rescheduling appointments.

The thought that we might have to be moving again in like 9 months.

The fact that it is still supposed to be between 80 and 90 degrees for the next month.

What I'm working on:

Putting away laundry (this is never ending and I'm terrible at it).

What I'm watching/reading:

We just finished Mare of Easttown last night and I really recommend it. Kate Winslet is good in everything she ever does. We finished Better Call Saul two weeks ago...I didn't love the ending but it's probably better that way. Makes it easier to move on.

I've been reading The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell. Moving onto Nine Lives by Peter Swanson next. My reading has slowed down a bit because Sutton has been eating more on the go lately. In a pinch, I prop up a bottle for her. Also, I had an actual stack of BOTM books that I haven't read because I've been pretty much Kindle-exclusive for the last few months.

What I'm listening to:

I've said it before, but I cannot recommend The Prosecutors enough if you like true crime podcasts. They also led me to Big Mad True Crime which is fantastic. The research is impeccable and I appreciate that she just gets right to it and I *like* how fast she speaks but I also like Ben Shapiro so...you may have to slow her down.

What I'm wearing:

This J.Crew dress is a STEAL. Like an absolute steal and you should get one.

I also got this bracelet from Etsy and I love it. It also matches my bag. I find, lately, that life is simpler if you go the monochromatic route. I'm really into black and gold right now.

Someone I passed by yesterday complimented my bag too. That's how you know you've got something good. Ain't no one complimenting your Lululemon bra bag, ladies.

What I'm doing this weekend:

DECORATING FOR FALL. I switched to a blue/white/black and plaid theme for my fall decor back in 2020, and this pumpkin stack just jumped in my cart at Walmart a few weeks ago.

What I'm looking forward to next month:

FALL. Scott is taking some leave too. Not necessarily to spend with us, but I want him to have some time to himself.

What else is new:

I got a massage last night. Is that newsworthy? I think I'm done with the chiropractor. I figured out that a massage only costs me $20 more than a trip to the chiropractor so maybe I'll just get a massage once a month LOL. The only hang up is that I can't take kids to the spa with me, so it takes a bit more coordination.

What's new with you???

Linking up!

  2. Lululemon bra bag LOLOL I am dying. Moving in 9 months? Oh no! Hopefully it will be a good one? When you gonna come to the southeast? Though, if you are tired of being hot and sweaty all the time...this isn't the best move. Haha! Love that bracelet.
