Friday things 3/19

1. Decorating for Easter made me feel hopeful that spring is on the way. I don't have much in the way of decor for Easter, though. I usually just add one thing every year. Haven't gotten anything yet for 2021.

Mismatched for sure, but collected over ten years and from different states. (I have other stuff, but this is just the mantel.)

2. This nail polish. I cannot say it enough. It looks so good. The formula, the brush, the price...it goes on smooth, dries quickly, and stays on for days and days without chipping. Every time I see a new color that appeals to me, I grab it. I probably have 5 or 6 now. They are $1.98 at your local Wal-Mart.

3. Dr. Foster. We watched both seasons on Netflix this week. Quite the undertaking. It yanks you in. I was on the edge of my seat. If you like thriller-esque books that take place in England, this series is for you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

4. Cast iron pizza. I know I recommended this a few weekends ago, but I've made it three times in the last few weeks. It's so easy. You have to try it. Make your dough. This recipe makes enough for two pizzas, so I freeze half for later. Preheat your oven to 525*. Grease the pan (I use olive oil). Press in the dough. Top it with whatever you want. Bake for 20 minutes.

I don't know if I said it on here or anywhere publicly, but I set a goal of no frozen pizza (said in a "NO WIRE HANGERS" voice) in 2021. We had come to rely on frozen CPK too heavily in the last few years. This method of making pizza without the messy rolling/flour/mat/etc is making that goal achievable for me. We eat pizza once a week, usually.

5.  I follow a lot of funny folks online who repost pics and memes. I can't even remember where I found these. I do try to crop them in a way for the blog that credits the original poster.

SO TRUE.
In fact, after growing up on the east coast but then spending my entire career working west of the Mississippi, mostly with people who were from the midwest even if I were in places like AK or CO... I realized I've developed a completely different vernacular. So much so that I didn't know how to talk to people when we were living in Pittsburgh.

It's the last day of spring break. One of us is sick. The weather is still questionable. We *might* have our childcare debacle figured out (but do you ever really?). ....and I got absolutely nothing done that I wanted to accomplish over break.

(I'm such a downer, right? Not really, but kinda.)

  1. Thanks so much for the tip on the nail polish. What a find. I'm going to try that pizza...looks delicious! I agree that each part of the country has it's own language. Down here in Tx, we get a lot of y'all, blessed, and "fixin' to." :)

  2. Well, darn for spring break. Summer break is right ahead though :)
I need to check out that polish
I love Easter & I dont think I have much of any decorations - I think because Easter falls at the most random times & backs right up to Valentine's Day/St. Patrick's Day - so dont bother

  3. I will have to grab some of that nail polish. Sounds perfect. Your pizza looks so good. I need to make some more homemade pizzas.

  4. I will decorate for Easter on April 1 and leave it up for the month. I am like you, I try to add one thing new a year. I actually have a lot of Easter items.

What's the dough recipe you use?
