Stuff and Things 7/23

Stuff, Things, etc.

Because there's so many stuff and things happening around here..I can't possibly be expected to recount them all and I'm busy doing stuff like shoveling dirt around for the patio that Scott is building.  My fingers hurt.  I have blisters. (To which Scott says, "Well your back's gonna hurt because you just pulled landscaping duty". I'm already doing landscaping though so...)

Here's a few confessions inspired by Steph's post yesterday...

1.  I don't want to watch your vlog.  I have no interest in vlogs.  Probably why I haven't made one.  In fact, I clicked on a blog yesterday hoping to gain some information from the "hook" that was posted on Facebook and then found that it was a vlog.  Tab closed.

2.  I'm guilty of it too (more often than I'd like to admit), but I can't stand it when bloggers don't say where they got something. I want to know where you picked up that cute pair of sandals or that purse (usually this is about a purse) when you dedicate half a post to it.

3. I got a new teacher-bag from Zappos (see!) and it arrived in two days.  I initially thought it'd be too small, even though the reviews said people used them for travel, for work, for laptops, etc.  I really thought about returning it, but I'm inherently lazy.  Then I asked Scott, "Is this okay? I feel like it's too small for school?"  He looked at it for half a second, said "No...it's looks big enough for folders and stuff".  I decided to keep it.

4. I'm tired of my Emily Ley planner.  It's annoying me.  Recommend a planner please.

5. I have two or three recipes that are half-typed up/half-created right now.  I don't know if one will make it onto the blog tomorrow or not.  Maybe I'll do two next week.  Decisions, decisions.

  1. NO VLOGS. I don't understand. Just give me the actual blog.

I just ordered a Plum Paper for 2016. I was really happy with it this year.

  2. I go in and out with vlogs. If I want to watch it, I'll go to your YouTube channel or something. But if it's a situation like you describe, no. And if you're going to try to trick me like that, have the decency to add a transcript so I don't have to watch it to get what you're saying.

  3. Um, YES, to all of these! I read blogs mostly at work, and I can't just sit around watching your vlog. I also lose interest quickly. I like that bag because it's long instead of wide (if that makes sense?). Also, I got a Plum Paper planner in January and I love it, though it's a bit heavier than what I normally get.

  4. Yeah, I watch vlogs very, very rarely... only if the hook absolutely gets me. I really like that bag you got, too. I've had the same "work bag" for 4 years now and definitely need a new one asap. Never really thought of shopping for one at Zappos before, so thanks!

  5. Haha, i'm with ya on the vlogs. I never watch them. Probably because I'm browsing blogs with the music on or while hubby is watching the game. And I'm totally guilty of not linking where I got something from. Oops!

  6. For me, it depends on the person doing the vlogging. If you did a vlog I'd totally watch it.

I can't stand it when people don't link to items either, like...if you're gonna brag about how amazing XYZ is, tell me where to buy it too.

I don't use paper planners...I'm no help there.

  7. Vlogs aren't my favorite thing either, I have no desire to do one.

  8. I never watch vlogs either. Unless it's a tutorial. Tutorials, I will watch.

  9. I'm not a vlog fan either and honestly on instagram I'm tired of seeing that dubsmash stuff also.

Cute new bag. I told myself if I got a teaching job I'd buy me one of those 31 organizing totes. Well needless to say the job hasn't happened yet so I've saved some moolah!

When do you go back to school?

  10. Yeah I rarely watch vlogs, usually they bore me, honestly. I'd rather just read.

  11. Yuck vlogs. I hear you.

And I second (or third, I don't know how many people recommended it) a Plum Planner. Just received my second one and love it! It's a great price too. Very customizable. Find them on Etsy!

  12. I don't mind a Vlog Here or there, but most of the time, I just can't watch a video because I'm reading blogs on the couch next to my husband who's watching TV.

  13. I love my Ruseel & Hazel smartdate planner! I have been using it for about a year now, the format works really well for me and the mini binders are just too cute! Here's the website: http://www.russellandhazel.com/category/smartdate-system

  14. i don't like vlogs, and i will watch maybe... like 2 or 3 of certain people but generally i don't. the reason is because i do most of my blog reading and commenting at work and i can't watch videos at work, and when i get home i can't be bothered. so... lol.
i don't understand people dedicating half or a whole post to something and then not saying where they got it. wtf how am i supposed to copy you?!
i just ordered a plum paper planner for 2016 (a couple weeks ago) and it's supposed to arrive next tuesday and i am super excited! it had really good reviews and i found lots of bloggers who liked them as well. obviously i haven't used it yet but i can't wait!

  16. If an article or post sounds interesting, but turns out to be a video, I close the tab right away.
