Currently (a link-up): April 2018

Showering... well, this probably doesn't count, since I'm not having a "real" baby shower, but I've been adding/deleting baby items from an Amazon registry since the beginning of February. Initially, I set it up because I was worried I'd run out of time (???) and this move is stressing me out and now it seems like forever until this baby is actually born. When, in reality, it's like 3 more months.
I do not expect anyone to buy us anything, but if you want to look at my registry...because I love looking at registries...let me know, and I'll send you the link. This is most likely only interesting to people who've set one up before...any and all advice about what we "need" is appreciated!

Cultivating... a renewed enjoyment of reading and adjusting my TBR list. A lot of the books on it I just don't want to read anymore. If it's been on there for two or more years, I likely will never get to it.

Currently reading....

Expecting.... a new TV show to jump out at me. I can't find one on Netflix. Scott has been watching The Last Man on Earth, A.P. Bio, and Brooklyn 99 on Hulu, and I'll watch episodes with him, but I'm not caught up at all. I need something to watch on my own during the week.
I've been watching Timeless on Hulu, which is fine because I like pretty people and time travel and history. It's good but not amazing.

Suggestions?

Buying... These maternity leggings. I ran into an issue where I ordered everything in a size up because I assumed I'd want something looser and more comfortable. While this is true, the size up keeps falling down and that does not for a pleasant experience make. So I ordered another pair in my normal size and hopefully they arrive soon. It killed me a little bit to pay for shipping, as I usually fill up my cart with clearance items and, when I'm finally ready to order, get the free shipping, but whatever. $20 for leggings that will (hopefully) fit for now isn't the end of the world.

Making...Have you seen these? We found them at Wal-Mart. They're super tasty and easy to make. They're about $3-4 each and we've been making them on and off since last fall. For the price of all the ingredients you would need to make the sauces, plus the spices, etc, it's definitely worth it. I usually just make a batch of jasmine rice or quinoa or couscous to go with it and put in whatever suitable vegetables I seem to have on hand.

  1. Those dinners look so good! I love things that are time savers but also make sense price-wise, too!

  3. Oh that's so smart to make adjustments to your TBR--mine is getting RIDICULOUS!! I really want to read Educated as well, and I love everything I've read from Kate Morton but haven't read Distant Hours.

  4. I think making a baby registry would have been so fun, although I would be probably even more clueless about what to put on it. I didn't make one because all my family is in the USA...and I live in a country that makes getting packages from abroad complicated. I'm watching Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" right now because that was pretty much the most important book series of my childhood.

  5. Since giving up cable, I've been on the netflix wave & needing shows to watch now too.

  6. I'm getting to that point, too, with many of the books on my TBR. If they've been on there for 2-3 years, chances are I will not get to it because time has moved on and so has my interest. I've been slowly weeding down my TBR to a more manageable amount. Although the books on the list are not hurting anyone, a giant TBR seems like virtual clutter to me anymore and I'm really trying to eliminate clutter from my life.

  7. How exciting that you are expecting! Congrats! Have you read, "Girl, Wash Your Face?" That's what I am currently reading and can't put it down. Happy Wednesday!

  8. I'm on a binge kick with Netflix, too. I'm really loving Hart of Dixie, and I'm surprised as hell that I love it. Summer was my least favorite character on The OC, so that's why I didn't watch HoD when it was on. And I'm kind of always binging The Office. It's always there.

  9. Where do you find the meal kits at WM? Refrig section? They look good!

  10. That's great you're going through your TBR and getting rid of things that no longer interest you. I try and do this every now and then because I have a list on Goodreads AND Amazon and it's out of control. haha

I'm sure creating a baby registry would be fun. :)

  11. I've been looking for a new Netflix show too, after finishing Broadchurch (British mystery series that I loved), but nothing's quite doing it for me. Might go for season 2 of Madame Secretary - I did enjoy the first season of it, if you haven't watched yet! And I'm so with you on just deleting those TBR books that you know you're just not going to get to. I have a few from several years ago too that maybe caught my interest at the time, but if I haven't read them yet, then I'm probably never going to get to them - so why have them cluttering things up? I have added Educated though. Have heard a lot of good things about it!

  12. We recently finished the new season of Jessica Jones on Netflix. It was good! My husband is into Peaky Blinders, but it's not my favorite.

  13. We didn't have a real shower either. It was virtual and pretty awesome!

  14. I also recently went through my Goodreads account and updated my list. I'm going to add the Laura Ingalls Wilder book though. That sounds awesome!

  15. I'm reading Educated now.

I wish you could batch delete on Goodreads. I don't go through and cull because it's a PITA.

  16. I feel like registering for gifts is so hard. I definitely struggled with our wedding registry.

That said, I would love to send you something for the baby if you want to share the link to your registry with me in an email. :)

  17. My top baby items that I cannot live without....😂...rock n play sleeper, aden and anais swaddle blankets extra soft, video baby monitor, nipple shields, a few different types of pacis to figure out what one your babe will take/ only if you want them to have one, and a stroller that your carseat clicks into. E.r. reruns are always good!

  18. 1) Shoot me your registry link! I'll be happy to share my thoughts on what you may really want/need and what we found to be totally unnecessary! :)

    2) My cousin works for Motherhood Maternity. As a general rule, you want to order maternity clothes in your regular size because they have the construction/belly panels that will fit your growing belly. I got size S tops and actually XS jeans. I used regular leggings all through my pregnancy, but I found maternity jeans to be a necessity! Since you'll be going through summer, maternity shorts will be very helpful! :)
