How do you take your coffee?

As I was writing this post yesterday morning, Scott was actually at Starbucks and he bought me the French press I've been wanting.  Here's to new coffee adventures!

If you have a Keurig, what setting do you use?  I used to be 8 oz all the way.  Then I realized how much better the 6 oz setting tasted.

I'm pretty sure the reason why we don't use a regular coffeepot is because I'm afraid of messing up the proportions.   I have no idea how to measure out coffee; the refillable K-cup does it for me.

My preferred coffee choice is whole beans from Trader Joe's.  When we go to TJ's, we usually buy 6-8 canisters and those last for quite some time.  I'm just patiently waiting for a trip to Denver (an hour away) so I can stock up.  Until then, I found Peet's at the commissary and I like it well enough.  Our fallback (when nothing else can be found) is Dunkin Donuts.  I found a canister of Folgers in the fridge here, which must have been left over from when Scott's dad was visiting a few weeks ago.  I asked Scott what such a thing was doing in my fridge and told him I would just throw it away.  He said, "Noooo…that's wasteful".  But what do I DO with it?  I mean, I can't drink it.

Anyway.  Creamer…

I prefer Coldstone Sweet Cream from International Delight.  I've been adding a lot lately, maybe 2-3 tablespoons, but if that's my biggest nutritional vice, I'll take it.

Depending on the day, I enjoy 1-2 cups in front of The Today Show.  It's a relaxing way to start the day and why I insist on getting up extra early.  I need that time to unwind before work.

When I'm out and about, I usually seek out a Starbucks or Panera for coffee.  I used to drink the gas station cappuccino (i.e. Sheetz).  It was cheap, tasty, and kept me warm on those cold Pennsylvania and Alaska mornings before school or work.  Then I realized it was all sugar, so I put a stop to that habit back in 2010.  I was never crazy about regular coffee. Then I discovered GOOD coffee and realized the problem wasn't coffee, it was the kind of coffee.

At Panera, my go-to is a non-fat caramel latte.  They can make a non-fat latte taste rich in a way that Starbucks can't.  My favorite coffee really is Panera because of the flavor and richness.  Their iced coffee?  To-die-for.  Black with a shot of caramel drizzle.  You have to ask for that caramel drizzle and they'll give you a weird look at first, but once they get to know you, they'll see you coming and put extra caramel in for you.  Or so I'm told.

At Starbucks, I'm all about non-fat white chocolate mochas in the winter.  They're still pretty sweet, but I'm not crazy about Starbucks' regular coffee.  Their "light" lattes taste like cardboard, and I often try not to eat/drink fake sugar.  So I just stick with the non-fat option and call it even.  No whip.

My preferred Starbucks drink is the non-fat caramel frappucino.  I could drink 2 a day, everyday.  And then I'd be heavily in debt.  The "light" versions of the frappucino are pretty good, but sometimes I'm too lazy to ask for it.  Depends on my mood.  Again, no whip.  They put whipped cream on mine last week and it completely threw me off.  I don't like the flavor/taste it leaves in your mouth. Also, no one needs whipped cream on their coffee.  Once you start drinking without, you don't even miss it. Promise.

So there we are.  My coffee habits.  What are yours?

  1. I never, ever get whip on my coffee. I had a heavy set girl actually roll her eyes at me once when I asked for it--I assure you it's JUST because I hate whipped cream! I take my coffee with just creamer--but like you I use quite a bit. I'm ok with it.

  3. I have a regular coffee pot by Bella Dots. I take my coffee with 2 scoops of powdered creamer and 2 scoops of sugar. I really don't care about the fancy crap. Just give me caffeine. And nobody gets hurt.

ps. the creamer I use is Great Value. HAHAHA

  4. I have odd habits. I can only enjoy 'at home' coffee from my house, I hate the coffee we have in our office, even though it's in a pod-brewed-type system. Maybe it's the creamers we have. IDK I love Starbucks, but often just get iced coffee, couple eSpresso shots and milk, no sweetener. I've learned to like my drinks with out it. Happy Friday, as I'm drinking sweet tea

  8. Every morning, we drink Raven's Brew (local) coffee, and I always put some unsweetened chocolate almond milk and a teaspoon of Stevia sweetener in it. When I'm in civilization...like in Seattle at Starbucks...I get a double tall Americano with sugar free vanilla syrup and a tiny bit of room, and then I add my own little dribble of half and half and some cinnamon.

My mom and sister have a Keurig. I used it a LOT while in Seattle. I liked it more than I thought I would.

  9. I drink any kind of coffee, any time, anywhere... literally ANY KIND OF COFFEE! I am a coffee fanatic. I've had every foo-foo fancy coffee drink imaginable. I drink it black. I drink it with just cream. I drink it with just sugar. I drink it with cream and sugar. I've had it at all three settings on the Keurig. I've had it strong. I've had it weak. I've had espresso (I LOLed at the Expresso comment). I like it ALL! For me... even when coffee is bad, it's good because it's coffee!

My commercial preference is Dunkin' Donuts. I am not a huge Starbucks fan (I hate their stupid sizes; this is how I feel about their sizes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS_PzfpKLYU). I usually get a Chai Latte when I am there. I have never had Panera's coffee. I will have to try it sometime. I actually have not been to a Panera in over five years.

If I could have a permanent IV port with a constant coffee drip into my bloodstream, I would be a happy girl! :)
