Sunday Social and funny stuffs.

1. What is the best New Year's Eve you've ever had?
Uh...We used to rent a movie and eat nachos when I was younger.  I specifically remember watching My Girl 2 and eating Cheez Whiz and tortilla chips when I was about 8.
I'm usually the rebel who goes to bed at 10pm. It'll still be the new year in the morning.

2. Are you doing anything for NYE this year and if so what?
Uh, no. Scott will probably insist that we leave the house, but maybe just for sushi.  He also likes to go to the movies.
(I don't understand how he can be around so many people all the time.)

3. Name a book we should all read come January?
Heck if I know.  I haven't read a book in months!  Shameful, I know. I'm really disturbed by my non-desire to read. I used to devour books, but now I can't find anything I like.
I read Mindy Kaling's book a couple months ago and it was okay.
I hear I need to read Gone Girl...anything else you'd suggest??  I love some good historical fiction too.

4. What are your New Year's resolutions?
Last year, I made resolutions.  I'm not one for resolutions, normally, but the beginning of deployment corresponded with the start of the new year so I set some goals for myself.
My goals last year included "continue to function".  I think I did pretty well!
(I mean, I'm still here, right?)
This year:
I'd like to be more organized.  This includes picking my clothes up off the floor and meal-planning.  Also, it means I need to stop procrastinating errands and chores (I'm sure that, somewhere in my house, there's a bathroom that needs to be cleaned right now.)
Continue working out whenever I can.  Sometimes this is every day, sometimes it's not.
Uh...I need to start reading the Bible again.  And we need to find a church.  I don't know why I am so lazy and, like, practically afraid of meeting new people...especially in a church setting. So many expectations! However, that's a lofty goal that I'd like to accomplish this year, but maybe not 'til we move in the spring.
These are not very specific, therefore set up for failure, but, really now...It's all I can come up with right now.  Any ideas?  What are your resolutions?

funny stuffs.
Is it just me, or is the funny stuff on Pinterest not as funny as it used to be? Maybe it's me...

Got it covered, cat.

SO true.

If possible, now that she'll be a cute pregnant lady, Kate might be even more adorable than usual. *sigh*

The caption on Pinterest reads "Just, you know, combining all of the most awful things in the world."
Agreed.

  1. I've heard that Unbroken by Ellen Hildebrand is amazing but I haven't read it yet. It's set in WWII....it's also been hanging out on my Kindle about that long, waiting for me to read it.

  7. I read Unbroken a few months ago (that your first comment suggested), it was a pretty amazing story. As for Gone Girl, I blew through the first 3/4 of the book and then hated, hated, hated the ending. It is an easy read, but the characters are actually kind of annoying and unlikable. It was not as good as everyone hyped it!

  8. Haha I love those things. Especially the last one. Nicolas Cage is a true genius.

  9. combining the most awful things in the world...omg, i'm still laughing. I suffered from a lack of wanting to read when reading had been one of the first things people used to describe me. I'm convinced it was the whole school thing...and then the whole military, crazy new married life thing...but I'm totally back on the wagon now. I love Goodreads because it helped me focus myself and keep track of books I wanted to read. I've got lots of reviews on my blog too. I've gotten to review a lot just because of blogging so that has been helpful.

I really like historical fiction as well :)

  10. My Scott is all about being around other people, too. I used to like people..... I dunno what happened. I actually think that I got so used to the fact that my close friends don't live near me that I learned how to function without people. We were going to go out with friends to a fancy dinner. Then Scott suggested that we stay in--just the two of us. Now, there may be leaving the house. I don't know. I'm pushing for just the two of us....

As for good books, I just got half a library for Christmas. So when I finish something, I'll let you know if there are any that I recommend. :)

  11. Finding and settling into a church in a new place is hard. I still don't feel at home with churches here--I loved the church I grew up in so much, but it's been really hard for Angel and to figure out how to find and get involved in a church on our own as adults in a new place! I hope you accomplish your goals-- a church where you're at home is a treasure.

  12. I would say read Gone Girl, but I have yet too. However, I am dying to finally start it since I bought it the week it came out and just haven't had time to dive in. I love the author though. Read her first two books, so she's a fave of mine.

If you like historical fiction, I hear the YA book Code Name Verity is amazing. It's a bit slow to start, but gets amazing. I need to read this one too, so I can't say for sure, of course.

  14. OMG is that the REAL cast? Because I'll never be able to watch iCarly again. EVER. And you and me could party on New Years. I haven't made it past 10 in probably 10 years!
