Do I sew? Nope.

I don't sew.  Not at all.  I mean, I can hand-sew.  A monkey could do that.
Actually, a monkey could probably operate a sewing machine too.

My husband knows how to sew.  I'm not sure where he learned how.

This is our sewing machine.

We bought it approximately 2.45 days before Scott deployed.  He needed to sew some name badges onto his bags.

We went to Wal-Mart.  He asked me what kind I wanted.  I just looked at him.  He picked this one.  I think because I told him I liked the purple and it was mid-range, price-wise.

When we were in line to pay, we saw a friend of Scott's.  He said, "Oh a sewing machine?" and looked at me.  I said, "Uhh, it's not for me.  I don't sew."  Last thing I need is people thinking I'm crafty.

I'm only crafty when it comes to ice cream.

At home, Scott set it up smack dab in the middle of the living room and did his sewing.  He tried to teach me how to use it.  If the Home Ec. teacher couldn't do it in 2 and 1/2 years of classes, I doubted Scott could do it.  He said it was easy.  Okay.  I was with him on steps one through four.  Then I got lost and blocked out steps five through one hundred and twenty-seven.  Dexter was on.

As soon as he left, I moved it to its current location in the loft.  There's a desk there.  The only reason I go into the loft is to smack the router around when the internet isn't working properly.

One day, he called and I was standing in the foyer looking up at the loft.  I said, "Oh yeah, I sewed a blanket last week with the new sewing machine!".  He said, "Really???".  I said, "No, of course not" and laughed and laughed.

Learning to sew is on my list underneath Learn to properly use camera.  I've had the camera for over a year and haven't gotten around to the instruction manual, so...

I saw this Pin and it made me think of the whole sewing thing.

Plus, it also reminded me of the night I met Scott.
He was looking for a running partner.
I said, "Sure, I'll run with you!".
Lies.  All lies.

When Scott was recently home for R&R, we were in the loft kicking around the router because the DSL wasn't working (I told you that's the only reason I go up there).  He looked at the sewing machine and said, "So you still haven't learned?"

Nope.  I haven't.  Too busy doing absolutely nothing else with my time.

Do you sew?  I'm jealous of you if you do.  It's one thing I've never managed to grasp.  I cannot thread a bobbin if my life depended on it.  My Home Ec. teacher in high school timed us and we had to thread a bobbin in a minute or less in order to pass.  That was a stressful day.
