It's OK 4/26 and I'm thankful....

It's Thursday...

Does anyone else spend massive amounts of time looking forward to the weekend only to realize that Saturday and Sunday come with their own to-do lists???

Just me??

Well, I'm proud to say that I accomplished the one grown up task I needed to do this spring.

(Clean?  No, I haven't been spring-cleaning in any way.)

I got my tires changed.

I've been dreading it for a month but now it's done and I can worry about that again in October.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's okay...

...that I miss my husband, but I hope I don't whine too much (Do I whine too much??).  I would like to think that my musings about deployment come across as informative, humorous, or are at least in relation to something else.  For example, my lament about having to take care of myself was due to me slicing open my thumb.  (Seriously, do I whine too much???)

...that I missed Turbokick last Saturday.  I just.couldn't.do.it.  I had all but shredded my quads last week with 6 workouts in 5 days.  It's sad when you miss your favorite class.

....that when I do get to talk to my husband, we talk about working out and protein powders and how much water a person should drink.  Only he would say that $60 protein powder is "just what you need".

...that I have damn eggs incubating in my classroom for the second year in a row.  Last year, the chickens hatched, I gave them to a friend, and a bear ate them.  I didn't see it, but apparently it was quite the massacre.

....that I had to pick up those chicken eggs from a shady-looking guy in an O.J.-esque white Bronco behind the Wasilla Wal-Mart (i.e. the shadiest place on earth).  I handed him an envelope of cash, he put the cartons in my trunk.  (Why did I offer to do this?  I really don't like taking care of living things and I told my co-worker I'd pick them up if she took care of them.  Seriously, I'm not touching that incubator.)

...it's also totally not okay that my knuckle is swollen and bruised and I can't wear my wedding ring (I believe it happened when I ripped my ring off too fast a week and a half ago).  I have a small ring finger to begin with (size 4 1/2).  It won't fit over my knuckle and it's really starting to irritate me.  Also, my knuckle hurts.  Like, is sore when I wake up in the a.m. and aches throughout the day.  I have two little cuts on either side from tugging my ring off the one time I tried to wear it a week ago.  I've complained to Scott, my mom, my co-workers...ideas??

And, as always, I'm thankful for several things this week.  So I'm linking up to Thankful Thursday at Ryan's blog

I'm grateful that I have a job I love (most days).  It seems like I run into someone on a weekly basis who tells me they know a teacher who can't get a job.  I'm lucky and I know it.

I'm grateful that our opportunities in Alaska have allowed us to live in a comfortable house.

Notice that disassembled fish box propped up against the garage.  And the neighbors' super-pretty green house.
A salesman came to the door yesterday and asked if it was my "place" or "my folks' place".  I said it was mine and he congratulated me on a such a beautiful house (at such an apparent young age, obviously).  I didn't tell him that we rent on the government's dime...plus, the cheap kitchen countertops in this house are nothing to brag about.

Anything to share on this Thursday???
The sunshine is improving my mood and outlook on Alaska...now I'm at "eh..I can tolerate it", which is better than "I hope it falls into the ocean and dies".

Happy Thursday!
