Strawberry Margaritas

I really liked bar-tending.  I think it was a worthwhile job.  Good life experience, everyone should have to do it once, yada yada yada.  But really, you learn a lot about people when you work behind a bar.  And there's something powerful about being the only sober person in a room like that.  If you like to people-watch, this is the job for you.  Of course, sometimes being the only sober person in the room got to be a drag.  That was when I would remind myself that I was making money and those people were spending money.

Plus, all of the customers are very nice to you.  You hold the key to the alcohol.  And people are decidedly friendlier once they have a few in them.  So they are generally pretty polite to the bartender.  I'm not sure why this doesn't work with waitresses too. (Waiting... is on t.v. right now so this thought crossed my mind.)

Yes, I've pried off a lot of Coors Light caps in my day.  But my favorite drink?  A margarita.

I always thought I preferred my margaritas blended.  Then I had one on the rocks and I realized it didn't matter; as long as it has tequila in it.  I truly like tequila.  A lot of people, including my husband, don't like tequila.

However, most of the of-age population drinks wine.  Some need a glass of wine to relax at the end of the day.  I don't like wine at all.  I would rather waste those calories on baked goods.

Strawberry Margaritas
for 2 drinks

1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
1/2 cup simple syrup (1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup sugar; boiled until sugar is dissolved)
Juice of 1 lime, plus wedges for garnish
4 oz. tequila
4 oz. triple sec
2 cups ice

Put everything together in the blender and mix well.  You can put lime juice on the glass rims and dip in salt, but I like to use sugar.  It just goes with the strawberries so well.
