Strawberry Daquiris

Yeah.  I notice the theme that's been going on lately too.

I guess if you can't go to the beach, bring the drink beach to you.

Oh, and I used a mix.  I got it for $1.89 at the Commissary.  You may think this is cheating but I highly recommend it.

When I went to the Caribbean, I expected bartenders to pull fresh fruit off the trees to make my frozen drinks.

They didn't.

They pulled a bottle of daquiri or colada mix out of a cooler and then threw in frozen fruit for good measure.

I put some frozen strawberries into this to thicken it up and give it a fresher taste.  I also love it when I get a chunk of fruit in a sip of a frozen drink.

Next on the list:  Pina Coladas!

Strawberry Daquiris

For each drink:
4 oz. (1/2 cup) of strawberry daquiri/margarita mix (I used Mr. and Mrs. T)
8 ice cubes
2 oz. coconut rum (1 shot)
2 oz. spiced rum or peach schnapps (1 shot)
1/4 cup of frozen strawberries
1 T. lime juice

*Coconut rum gives a lot of flavor, but doesn't have much of a kick.  To make it taste like the islands, add the spiced rum.  To make it fruitier, add the peach schnapps.

Lime wedge for garnish

Blend it all up and enjoy!
