A birthday and a half-birthday.

In an effort to make my point about Monday's post...I opened up Bloglovin' on Tuesday morning to find the new posts of the day for the blogs I follow ("follow" used ever-so-loosely here). 5 out of 6 posts (the first 6 I saw on the page) were either laden with affiliate links for "the best" Amazon purchases (like I can't find my own stuff on Amazon), outfit posts with affiliate links for where you can find similar clothing, or sponsored.

I'm just saying...

Growing up, having a January birthday was the worst. I've had at least one party canceled because of bad weather, but maybe more. Now, as an adult, I don't really care, except that people are usually in an awful mood during the second week in January.  Their New Year's diets are starting to wear on them and they're tired of going to the gym, maybe. Even if it's dark and snowy, I'm generally happy because it's my birthday and I'm busy enjoying the treats I buy myself.

Wells was born in July, so basically he has my dream birthday.

My grandma was born in July and Wells was born one week before what would have been her 100th birthday. (It would've been interesting if he'd stayed in there for nine more days and they could've shared a birthday....but not really because I'm glad he was born when he was and didn't make me wait.)

Since Wells was born July 10th and I was born January 10th, we share half birthdays, which is pretty neat. I knew him being born on the 10th was unique because I was too, but I never considered the half birthday part until a few weeks ago when I realized he'd be 6 months on my birthday.

Also, Jett was born March 10th, so I'm sure I could figure out a way for him to celebrate with us too.

Excuse the world's almost-ugliest curtains. They'll be replaced at the first opportunity.

  1. You know I feel your pain with a Dec 30th birthday... & the hubs having a Dec 24th birthday - let's cram in our birthdays in the rush of the holidays... UGH. I still say we all have a birthday party in July :)

  4. Happy birthday! That cake is iced very impressively. I wish I could do that, mine always look like they've been sat on.

Totally agree on your point on #spon, endless affiliate stuff, etc. I think too many people have bought those "how to get rich from affiliates while sitting on your sofa all day living the life you've always dreamed of" type pyramid scheme courses (don't get me started on those either) and now everyone's at it. I have a 3 strikes and you're out rule. Unfollow is my friend! I just want to read real stuff now, not be sold to.

  5. Happy belated birthday! I feel your pain. My birthday is tomorrow... and next week is my son's and my husband's. January birthdays are kind of the pits.

  6. Happy Birthday! I actually don't like having a July birthday, I always wish I had one during the school year.

    1. That is true! I always was planning ahead to make sure the summer birthdays got a fake "birthday" before school was out in May!

  7. Happy birthday and half-birthday to the two of you! The 10th is a nice even number for a birthday. I have found myself surprisingly glad that Cyrus was born on a 1st of the month...it just makes everything seem nice and even in a weird way.
I've always loved having a July birthday. Summer, there's a school break, it's far away from all the other holidays, I get presents about every half a year, basically. :P

  8. My grandma and I share half birthdays - June 12 and December 12. I always thought it was the coolest when I was little, so i bet Wells is going to be thrilled with that fact someday too!

I do enjoy having a June birthday. Presents every half a year, like Isaiah said. Only problem is we have SO MANY BIRTHDAYS in our family in May/June/July, not to mention Mothers Day/Father’s Day. I wish they were spread out about more!! But Isaiah has a January birthday and it’s always so hard to come up with birthday ideas because we JUST had Christmas. I feel even worse for kids whose birthday is within a few days of Christmas...
