November 3, 2015

Hey, it's the first week of November (again)

Leggings: White Plum (last year) // Boots: Madden Girl //
Skirt: Old Navy (this year) // Jacket: Target

This is a copy/paste from last year's post.

"November and I have a tricky relationship.  For the last 6 years, Novembers have been big months.  Not every November.  Just most.  Especially that first week of November.  Not sure how I feel about it.
The following is color-coded as goodbad, and absolutely indifferent

November 1, 2008  Scott buys my engagement ring two months after we meet.  I'm patiently standing beside him at Kay Jeweler's as he drops the down payment on the counter. (I didn't actually see it until mooonths later.  He just wanted me to pick it out to make things easier on all involved.)

November 2, 2009  Scott deploys to Afghanistan.  He returns in February 2010.

November 2010  I was blogging at this point, but I don't remember anything particularly significant.  It was always cold, dark, and I was getting ready to take a trip to Boston.

November 4, 2011  We return to Alaska after a 2 week block leave vacation to the east coast.  Deployment is upon us again.

November 1, 2012  Scott comes home from Afghanistan deployment #2.  It was about 11 months.

November 2013  Living in Missouri.  Indifference to the umpteenth degree.

November 1, 2014  Scott comes home from 30 days of temporary duty in Texas."

To add to it...

November 2015 Scott is at training. Gearing up for deployment #4.

He was actually supposed to leave this week, which furthers my theory that there's something about this week. But his particular job required him to go two weeks early.  Still counts.

In case you want the up-to-date details on where we are with the military...Scott will take command in December and will be in command for 12-18 months, spanning over the length of a deployment. (Which means that I will be in charge of an FRG for the second time in 6 years, so if you have helpful FRG-running tips, send them my way).

We'll be in Colorado for at least 2 more years, I'm assuming. He's on a career path that will keep us here for possibly longer, though.  We've been waiting to see if he would get command; without it, his career would hit a dead end. Now we (meaning he, I'm not in the army) are okay for staying in longer...even if it means another deployment (which is really not okay, but there's no way around it...). The only real constant I have right now is knowing that, as long as my school doesn't decide to move me or something, I will be in the same classroom next year.  That's a nice feeling because the army has caused me to shift my career around a lot.

  1. Cute outfit! I've been following your blog since you first started. Not really sure how I came upon it- but at the time I was also a military wife dealing with deployments and it was nice to see that other military wives out there had similar experiences. Anyways, I've really enjoyed following you on here over the years and I especially always enjoy your stuff and things posts. :)

  2. Wow, I had no idea November was such a month for you. I've only been reading your blog for a lil over a year so I missed out on some of the deployments. Incredible that he will take command, mad props to you and him! I know you will be amazing at running the FRG!!!!

  4. Oh my god, woman. Why are we always on the same wavelength? I was driving to work yesterday and had that familiar 'November is upon us, big things are going to change' feeling. We have much to chat about. Can we have a facetime date sometime this weekend?

  6. Why November? You'd think the universe would want to shake things up a bit.

I'm glad you'll get to stay in the same classroom (fingers crossed) and you'll kick ass at the FRG post.
