Well, hello there. I've pulled my head out of my 2 grade reading manual long enough to find this post saved in drafts and hit publish.
Hopefully I'll be back on schedule this week. Last week, aside from pulling together a classroom in FOUR days (Thurs., Fri., Sat., Sun.) and then beginning the whole teaching thing, I also decided to stop cooking.
I had a birthday dinner with friends, a Papa John's pizza on the couch, an anniversary dinner with Scott, and then a Mexican dinner with his friends (just call me a meal-planning failure, it's okay).
I'm tired.
Anyway, see you Monday for Skirtember!
I feel like I've taken a million trips across the midwest. In reality, it's been 8 times that I've driven through Ohio/Indiana/Illinois/Missouri/and/or/Kentucky.
Something I've found amusing is the way they all fight over Abraham Lincoln.
For example, they boast:
Kentucky: Birthplace of Lincoln!
Indiana: Boyhood Home of Lincoln!
Illinois: Land of Lincoln!
During Labor Day weekend's marathon drive, we discussed this. It was decided by us that where you are born is your ancestral home (i.e. Scout's is Indiana...poor dog).
Therefore, Kentucky can claim Lincoln.
For the record, out of those states, Kentucky is the prettiest, but West Virginia is prettier. We decided, if given the choice, we'd just settle in Wheeling, WV.
Actually, if given the choice, I'd move to Boston. There's no contest there. I don't understand why we don't have military bases in New England.
Scout gives me this look when he's ticked off.
I hope I never see this.
It's interesting to be in a state that sells alcohol in the regular grocery store. Apparently it's not good for everyone.
For me, it's a spoon for stirring coffee. I can never decide if it'll be one cup or two.
Whether it's at work, helping someone move, or participating in daily life...there's always one person who stands around and expects others to carry the load...
For example, we have a ...friend..who comes to our house to do laundry whenever he feels like it, using our detergent of course.
This probably wouldn't work in elementary school.
Don't forget: Monday is the 2nd Skirtember link-up! If you haven't worn a skirt/dress yet this month, try one on today and take a picture. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's outfits!
We'd love to have you stop by for the link-up (more info here). Chantal and I are thrilled by the interest in this challenge, and thanks to those of you who linked up last week. THANK YOU to everyone who's been spreading the word!
