Friday Recommendations, 8/15

 1. Bad Teacher

Do you guys remember when movies used to be funny? Back when movies were GOOD and truly laugh-out-loud and completely inappropriate? Back before we knew what an a-hole Justin Timberlake really was? This is, I'd argue, Cameron Diaz's best work. Normally I don't love her, but real comedy is where she's best.

Anyway, Scott turned this on the other night. I remember seeing it in the theater in Alaska. For real, go watch it this weekend.

2. The Forgetting by Hannah Beckerman

Such a good book! I particularly love domestic thrillers set in the UK (or on the east coast like Boston, New York). I realized I don't like books set in the south or California...I've DNF'd like 10 books this summer and I noticed that common thread.

Anyway.

This is told in parallel timelines but I wasn't sure if they were happening at the same time or if they were past/future, past/present, present/future. (I won't tell you.) I spent whole book trying to make the connection between the characters. I prefer that kind of reading, so if you like thrillers with mystery that don't have a bunch of murder or mayhem, this is for you. Her newest book, Three Mothers, was also pretty good, but The Forgetting was better.

3. I picked up a Billie Razor a month or so ago because it was so pretty. I cannot believe how inexpensive they are compared to disposables. I highly recommend this if you're razor-shopping. The magnetic holder is a game-changer too.
