5 Friday Recommendations

1. I have been using the O'Cedar mop with the Go Clean Co method (very hot water and a bit of powdered Tide) on our tile floors and absolutely loving it. It's so easy! We had this mop before it was cool, but we left it in Wyoming, I think. That was the last place I used it and remember seeing it, so I just bought a new one last month.

2. If you're preferring low-carb these days, this twist on my Spaghetti with Breadcrumbs is a winner. I used a bag of frozen cauliflower gnocchi and a few chopped zucchinis. Toss with some oregano, dried minced garlic, and olive oil. Roast in the oven at 450 degrees for 20ish minutes. Top with sauce and meatballs and breadcrumbs (if you'd like).

3. I also highly recommend going into Target and buying only exactly what you need:

Diapers, razors, and epsom salt.

I have this inkling of a thought that keeps popping into my head: I think I'm going to focus on a more capsule wardrobe type of closet and that would mean not throwing $7 tshirts into the Target cart. I haven't had a lot of luck with Target clothes this summer. It's been incredibly disappointing, actually.

4. Naps. All of you, after I posed my nap problems on Instagram (i.e. I want to take one each day), insisted that taking a nap at any opportunity is a good decision. So yesterday, I took a nap. I had my reasons though...

5. Library cards.

I got a card at the local library this week...I've had a library card in almost every state...Not Missouri, though. The library on Ft. Leonard-Wood was impressive enough that I didn't need to join the local one. Here, on base, the library is still closed.

Any recommendations for this week?

Have you tried a capsule wardrobe? I feel this huge pull toward it, considering I have a lot of clothes I kinda like but never wear and would like to wear clothes I actually love. (how very 2015 of me, right?)

Did you watch the DNC this week? I did not but I followed on Twitter.

  1. I don't have a capsule but I'm trying to wear everything in my closet before hanging up clean clothes again. That way I throw out what I'm not wearing easier (so it says in my brain). The clean clothes get laid flat in our guestroom until I decide I need to wear them. Same for Keith. He has enough pilo shirts that I wouldn't have to clean shirts for 2 months.

  2. A library card is a must. #3... hahaha! I've never heard of cleaning floors with powder detergent! Very interesting!

  3. I don't need your negativity with the no $7 tshirts from Target, ok??? LOL! In all seriousness, I have two dresses I bought from Target over the summer online, and both are just sitting in my closet waiting to be returned whenever we venture in stores again. Their clothing has been disappointing all summer. You know who is killing it? Walmart! I have found so many great pieces from them for dupes of much more expensive brands at the same quality. I like the idea of a capsule wardrobe, but they also give me anxiety and I would never do one. But I sort of dress like I have one, wearing the same few pieces over and over again haha.

  4. I've been looking at starting to go low-carb & I didnt even know they made cauliflower gnocchi - I'll be adding that to my list

  5. I think you should do a capsule! I love Courtney Carver and Momadvice blogs takes/words on the capsule. Pick just a few colors you feel great in and avoid the Target clothes - exception for Universal Thread! Let us know if you do it!
