The Power of "Yet"

I'm pulling a page from what I teach my 4th graders today because I think that I can learn something from this also.  Perhaps you can too...

Sometimes we (me) get hung up on what we (I) can't do and what we (I) haven't done. I'm slowly turning around my thinking and realizing that it's possible to have everything you want but you can't have it all at once. And would you really want to anyway?

Class Dojo is something I use every day and they've been releasing these videos each week that go along nicely with the theme of perseverance.  This one drives home the point that just because you can't do something right now, doesn't mean you won't ever do that thing.

My class loves the Growth Mindset videos.  We watch the new one every Monday and I highly recommend them, and the whole Class Dojo system, if you're a teacher.  My new trick is posting a picture of our homework each day to the class newsfeed (Class Story)....this way kids are held responsible in a whole new way: their parents know exactly what they are accountable for.  I love it.

  1. Yet is quite a powerful word and I think it's great you help kids learn they can do things. Fun POST!

  2. Can you get your husband to relocate to Delaware for just one year and can you come teach my daughter when she's in fourth grade next year? Please?

I'm showing these to my child. Thank you.
