Starting on the east coast, I grew up in PA so, like any respectable Pennsylvanian, I'd been to Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Ohio, and DC. We can include Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina in that. I've driven through those states or visited/vacationed in those states a few times.
Then, I went to Missouri in 2009 to visit Scott at Ft. Leonard-Wood and drove through Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri, and then flew home out of Oklahoma City when Scott was spending some time at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
When we moved to Alaska, we drove through OH, IN, IL, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. Then we lived in AK.
While we were in Alaska, I went to Massachusetts for a school conference. Also, we went on vacation to New England. Drove through Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.
Also while in Alaska, we went to California for a wedding.
The next year, we went on a cruise that left from Miami so we spent a couple of days in Florida.
On the way to MO from AK, we drove through Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska..ending in Missouri.
Near the end of our time in Missouri, we visited friends in Tennessee so we also went through Kentucky.
Then we had that lovely drive through Kansas on the way to Colorado.
I'm hoping that, while we're here, I can get to New Mexico and Texas at the least. And Scott mentioned something about wanting to go to Hawaii. I've also been to Washington and Oregon more times than I can count for layovers, but that probably shouldn't factor in.
I don't know that I have the best travel record, but it's not the worst. 33 states.
How many states have you been to?
This is the website I used to make my map if you want to try it and I got the idea from Kristen!
(Have I done a post like this? I feel like I have...)
I love traveling too! New Mexico is on my must see list :)
ReplyDeleteIf I'm counting right, I think I've been to 21 states. I've lived in two of the states you haven't visited: Michigan and Texas. I haven't seen much of the far east coast or the far west coast. I liked the way you did this post, writing about what brought you to all of those states.
ReplyDeleteI've pretty much been nowhere. My map would be sadly white.
ReplyDeleteI've been somewhere in the 20s. Maybe around 30. I counted once and can't remember but I'm stealing this post idea. Most of what I'm missing is the middle states. I should probably fix that at some point.
ReplyDeleteI've been a good chunk of the west coast states, growing up in Nevada made it somewhat easier.
ReplyDeleteI have hit mostly midwest and south. I really want to see Washington and Oregon as well as some of the northeastern states.
ReplyDeleteI just did this map and if you flipped it diagonally, that's what mine looks like. Almost the entire left side/lower left side of the map is filled in. It's like I'm a west coast girl or something.. ;)
ReplyDeleteI only have 21. I'll hit four more this year. We're starting to focus our travel more on where we haven't been.
ReplyDeleteI've been to 25, but mine is kinda the opposite of yours. I haven't been anywhere on the east coast. Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, and Georgia, but nothing East of that.
ReplyDeleteNice, you've been to do many states!! I just counted and I've only been to 23 states, so I'm almost halfway there :) Mike and I have a dream of going to every Major League Baseball ballpark, so that should cross a few off the list eventually!
ReplyDeleteum, this is awesome! first off, i love your pretty coloured states! and you have been to so many. we could mush together and make up all of them, haha. if i counted my layovers, i'd have way more.. ok maybe like 3 or 4 haha.
ReplyDeleteCool! Mine is... very full. But a lot of those states are drive-throughs. I still count them.
