Stuff and Things 2/19

+I had a whole post written, realized I didn't like it, and now I'm starting over.

+The Oscars are on this weekend.  Scott has a bet on American Sniper winning Best Picture and Bradley Cooper winning Best Actor.  I actually didn't see American Sniper, but I have a feeling it will depress me.  Scott really liked it and, in my humble opinion, Bradley Cooper should win Best Actor all the time.  I still rewatch Silver Linings Playbook every once in awhile.

+This article on Slate ranks all the Oscar nominees.  I haven't seen many of the movies because I'm not a movie person, but I did see The Imitation Game (very good), Big Hero 6 (cute enough), Into the Woods (dumb), and part of How to Train Your Dragon 2 (Scott likes animated movies).  Gone Girl is on my list, but I've seen none of the others.  I feel very out of touch.

+But I will be watching on Sunday.  Because we have the opportunity of winning $550 and I need to celebrate if that's the case.

+Some days you feel really put together, clothes-wise.  Yesterday one one of those days. To the non-blogger though, I just look like I'm wearing blue stripes with black, and black with brown, and two different stripe patterns.

I had trouble getting a decent picture.  I'm out of practice.

Boots: Madden Girl // Leggings: Athleta (they have pockets! acceptable for work!) // Shirt: Gap // Sweater: Forever21 // Scarf: Target

  1. Love your outfit! My hubby likes animated movies, too! {I usually don't sit through them with him, though.} Happy Thursday!

  2. I've probably seen 0 of the movies nominated but I'll still watch because I like the dresses. MFD will be gone on Sunday night and I will totally enjoy some Oscar snacks and snark.

  3. I'm actually pretty excited for the Oscars this year! I didn't see American Sniper and I'm still on the fence about seeing it. I agree, Bradley Cooper should definitely always win :)

  4. I love your deck outfit pictures and didn't realize I missed them until this post. Bring those back, lady. Maybe I'll start them too, you know, to keep myself accountable for actually putting freaking clothes on. I know nothing about the oscars except that my brat of an older brother is GOING to them. He and I live much different lives. Sigh.

  5. I have seen none of the movies nominated except for Gone Girl but I think Bradley Cooper should win all the things, all the time. I'll watch the Oscars if I don't fall asleep before they start.

  6. You DO look super put together! I love layers with scarves and boots. Pretty fail-proof and also super cozy. :) We're pretty out of touch with the movie scene, as well, but we DID see American Sniper and it was excellent. The ending was sad, obviously, but I feel like it's definitely worth seeing. Gone Girl was also good but in a very different way. If I'm remembering correctly, you didn't love the book, and it's pretty true to the book. But the bonus is that you get to stare at Ben Affleck for a couple of hours. Worth it, in my opinion. :)

  7. I haven't watched a single Oscar nominated movie this year. I'm not a big movie person but usually I end up watching at least one of the hyped movies, not so this year. I watch a lot of documentaries so I do try to watch all of the nominees for best documentary but I haven't gotten around it this year.

  8. Bradley Cooper can win every award in my book as far as I'm concerned as well. We saw AS and it was just as good as everyone had talked about. The theater was absolutely silent when it was over. Can't wait to see him win Sunday - he and the movie better! :)

  9. You should definitely watch American Sniper. I've never been in a movie where the audience was dead silent as the credits rolled, and nobody wanted to move. The end is sad, of course...but the movie was worth it. I had all the feels afterward.

The only other one of those movies I've seen was Gone Girl and I mostly hated it.

  11. Bradley Cooper is one of those guys I see pictures of and I'm like meh. Then I see him in a movie and I'm amazed at how good looking he is. He is much better in action than in still life.

  12. I'm with you re: Bradley Cooper. I haven't seen American Sniper but I really want to, even though I know it will be hard to watch.

Into the Woods is another I really want to see...sad to hear you didn't enjoy it! I've heard mixed reviews.

  13. American Sniper was a really amazing movie! And I agree that it and Bradley Cooper should win. No TV provider here any more, as you know, so I'm no longer watching award shows. I'm surprisingly ok with this since I usually DVR'd them and watched them over the next couple days having to avoid spoilers over the Internet! Haha
