Stuff (and things)

In honor of The Walking Dead being back in circulation, there shall be some weekly Stuff and Things to report.

-I love these chips.  I mean, I used to think that the slightly flavored tortilla chips were just awful for you (they are) because they have some kind of preservative/coloring agent that causes weak muscles/weak bones/cancer/gnorro-cepha-mylitis/something like that.  Or that's what the nutritionists would want you to believe.

But, a glance at the nutrition label (don't look at it too closely) will tell you that they're no worse for you than regular tortilla chips.  Win-win!

Some nights, I just crave some good tortilla chips and a glass of wine.  My wants are simple.

-A lot of people at my new job are snazzy dressers.  Really. They give me something to aspire to.  I've become known as the "boot-wearer" though.  I've actually had teachers stop me in the hall to ask me if they're wearing their boots "right".  I think I've found my home.  However, they seem to be amused by the fact that I wear boots everyday.  I don't understand that. Boots are just the only acceptable option when the snow starts in October and lasts 'til May...oh.  Wait.  I probably could invest in some actual shoes now.  I'm just set in my ways, I guess.

I think I want these ones next.

-Speaking of cold weather.  There are people at school wearing winter coats this week.  It's 55* in the morning.  I'm so confused.  I mean, I used to go outdoors regularly when it was 2 degrees (let's leave blogging and the things we do for it out of this).  Maybe I should wear my marshmallow coat when it hits 45 degrees later this week?

Maybe not.  I'm actually not sure where it is. Eh, I probably won't need it......right?

-I tend to go for very long periods of time without listening to any music.  Not even in the car.  I'd say it's been about a month.  This morning, I could not get a Taylor Swift out of my head (something dumb about a Maserati), so I turned on the radio.  Now, I feel like a new person after listening to George Strait's "Natural".  I also ran a very easy 2 miles to some Jason Aldean tonight.  I think I'll be listening to music again for awhile.

-I think I'm going to make these for school for next week.

To be honest, I am THRILLED that we're not having a Halloween party at school.  I hate those things. But I do like making treats.  So we'll have treats.

Any "stuff" or "things" to share?  Did you watch The Walking Dead on Sunday?  How about Homeland?  That show is getting goooooood (minus the Dana nonsense).

  2. I love your boots. I see no problem with you wearing them most days :)

we don't have a Halloween party, but I do get to chaperon a Halloween dance, so that's... fun?

  3. Those boots are really cute! I think wearing boots most days is pretty acceptable during the fall/winter!

  4. Oh man. Who is feeding those walkers! I think it's Carl because he wanted his gun back and his dad to be all Ricktatorship again. I know it.

Did you hear about Robert Kirkmans plan to create a spin off? It'll be called something else, a different area and same thing. MORE WALKERS!!!!

  5. Besides my motorcycle boots for reasons of coolness, I try to avoid wearing boots until it actually is freezing out--they're predicting possible snow later this week...and usually we don't get the first signs of Spring till April, so I push off all cold weather gear as long as possible. I know I'll miss my non-snow and salt appropriate footwear for many months!

  6. So what do you do in the car without music? ;)

  7. I think its supposed to get back into the 50s so you can alternate between the coat and not wearing it. The schools up here have done away with Halloween and they call them Fall Parties, which I am subbing for one on the 1st of Nov - and one of my friends at the school said I probably wouldn't want to but I think it'll be fun...we'll see!

  8. I need for us to meet in real life. I mean it. Tortilla chips and wine are my perfect kind of night. I'm also the boot wearer. I think it's hilarious--you have an actual excuse for your behavior though. You had to do it--I on the other hand just find something I like and stick with it. All. The. Time. I'm still holding strong on not putting the actual heat on in my house (I think it's dropped down to something like 55 here in the mornings, like there). But I have caved and put on the space heater a time or two. I'd die like the little wussy I am in Alaska.

PS. You're the only person I know who could make that puffy coat look so dang adorable!

  9. I don't understand people wearing coats when it's obviously not cold. I hate coats in general and I'm really not excited about having to break mine out for the first time in 3 years. Those boots are super cute! We'll definitely have snow this winter so I'm going to have to order a couple new pairs. Those treats look good!

  10. Aw, I'm a bit addicted to parties, but I think it might be too much for some teachers. I like the look of those treats though. YUM!! It's pretty cold around here too, but I'm not breaking out the big winter coat yet.

  11. If its winter going into Spring & its 55 degrees, people wear shorts... its all perspective :)

  12. When I see people in winter coats when it its 50, I'm like what are you going to wear when it's 25? I don't get it.

A fleece or vest and a scarf will do for now.

  13. Oh, to live somewhere again where people actually care about how they dress...I miss that.

Is it weird that I don't like chips? I'll eat a few if they're put in front of me, but if it wasn't for Isaiah, I would literally never buy them.

  14. I love boots. Wear boots. :)

People who think they need winter coats when it's 55* are spoiled. It was 39* by the time I got home today and I still didn't wear a winter coat. A cold weather scarf? Yes. Winter coat? Not until November.

  15. I love your marshmallow jacket! That's totally something I'd be wearing in 50 degree weather.

  17. I saw a similar photo somewhere with pretty Halloween rice krispies; they look festive! I'm not big into Halloween, but give me a good treat and I am happy.

  18. Dude, if I could raid your closet I'd be in boot heaven. This is gonna be hard to believe but I only have ONE pair...sad, I know. I need more!

Omg you're the best teacher ever. I want those treats so bad right now.

  19. So I was thinking of you the other day when I tried sooooooooo hard to put on our boots from last fall (yes, I'm calling them OUR BOOTS ;-)). I'm proud to announce that despite this pregnancy and the bit of weight that I've gained, I was still able to zip them up and wear them all day long :-)

And speaking of coats (and pregnancy, apparently), it's been in the 30s and 40s in MN this week and I have been coatless because they frankly, just don't fit. It's been pretty much horrible haha. Thank goodness for remote start on my car (it's pretty much running at all times now hah)

    Have a great weekend, Kristin!
