The rumors are true...

Forgive this.  It was midnight, folks.
Deployment ended at about midnight on November 1st/2nd.

The irony of this is when Scott deployed for the first time, in 2009, he left on November 2nd.  And I remember dropping him off on base at like 2am that day and it was eighteen kinds of horrible.

Let it be known that this was the LAST flight of soldiers to return.  There were 10 of them.  And there was no ceremony and that was fine and dandy with me.  I didn't enjoy tripping over strollers and microphone wires and listening to speeches the last time around.

Anyway.

After I jammed up the ignition to the car (in my excited fervor, no doubt), we returned home and Scott opened up all of the packages he'd been receiving in the mail for the last several weeks.  He also insisted on turning on the overhead fluorescent lights.  Which sent me into near seizure, because I cannot stand overhead lighting.  (It is the true difference between us.)

And that is the last time I'll see my living room floor until the day we move.

That day is growing delightfully closer, by the way.

And now, I have to decide what to do with this thingybob.

308 days, in case you were curious.

As soon as we get a coating of snow, I think it'll be burnt in the backyard.

P.S.  Also, I'm making the choice to no longer share my life on Facebook, so you will see no "HE'S HOME! FINALLY!" statuses from me.  I'll keep FB around because there are, like, exactly 4 people I talk to via Facebook.  Mostly I try to keep my life a secret.  It's more fun that way.

And that's totally why I have a blog.  #makessense

OH.  Tomorrow?  There's a giveaway.  You should probably come back for it.

  1. Lol I remember our floor looking like that for days, our kitchen table was also a mess. My husband has been deployed twice as well and I remember noon turned into midnight then turned into a whole another day.

Well I am, glad he safe and at home!

  4. Yay!! Glad he's home! Our floor looked like that for DAYS after David got home. It looks like that constantly honestly when he needs to find something. Men. Psht.
Also, I HATE green socks. I hate them with a passion! It might be the one thing I don't mind about deployment--I don't have to match stupid weird shades and lengths or green socks that rarely match.
Oh and I've definitely shared less on facebook lately. I dunno if it's because I blog or what, I think facebook is just annoying really.

  6. I am so glad he's home! And I had to laugh at your comment about the floor. It's been 3 weeks since Dylan came home and there is still stuff everywhere.

  15. Yay congrats!!! You must be so happy :) Also, I know what you mean about the fb vs blog thing. A lot of my friends have been asking why I've been absent from fb lately... and I really like/feel more comfortable/feel like people on fb will hate me less when I share everything on a blog so only people who want to can read it.
