Sunday stuffs. 10/28

Let me be honest.
(In case there's any confusion, I'm Rick in that scenario.  Tomas is Alaska...or those in charge of military travel...either/or....you get it.  Use your imagination, friends.)

Sunday Social

1.  What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?
Catwoman.  I was 6.  My mom made the whole thing.  Or maybe she paid someone to have it made.  I don't remember.  If it's the latter, I obviously come by my crafty inabilities quite honestly.
And no.  I don't have a picture.  Because I live in Alaska.
I think it's awesome that everyone but me will have pictures of their childhood Halloween costumes posted today...except for me.  Stupid Alaska.

2.  If you could go back and dress up as something, what would it be?
Uhhh....perhaps I should've taken advantage of the opportunity to dress as a prostitute when I was in college.  I haven't dressed up, really dressed up, since probably 6th grade.  That was a poodle skirt.

3.  Favorite costume as an adult?
Oh, Sunday Social...your questions are funny.
I don't dress up.
Two years ago, I wore a plaid shirt (surprise, surprise) and a glittery cowboy hat to school.  Last year, I was in Maine for Halloween.  This year, I am sporting my tiara.  Judge away...

4.  What is your favorite Halloween candy?
I inhale candy corn like oxygen.
I've made myself sick, to the point of throwing up, because I cannot stop eating it.
So, I gave it up a few weeks ago, and going cold turkey was the only way for me.
I'll gladly eat any type of candy you're willing to place in front of me, but it's the candy corn that I cannot quit.  Anything else, I can stop after a few.
Here's Candy Corn Cake Pops and Candy Corn Blondies...for those of you who prefer not to inhale pure sugar by the handful.

5.  What is your favorite Halloween memory?
"Well, that time I lit the black flame candle and brought the Sanderson sisters back to life..."
No.

I don't really have super-exciting Halloween memories.  I used to like dressing up and having a party at school. (Now I do NOT like the parties at school.  Ridiculous waste of time they are.)
I love the spookiness of the holiday and the history behind it (did you expect any less of me?), but my favorite part of Halloween last year was getting to be in New England.  I love New England (hi, Hocus Pocus) and so much American Halloween folklore has originated there.
My current goal is to do the ghost tour of Colonial Williamsburg.
Yes, I believe in ghosts.
I love doing a lesson on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow every year with my students (I made my own PowerPoint and everything), and I LOVE reading them Goosebumps books.  They're just as popular now as they were when I was in 4th grade.
OH!  I worked at a haunted house in high school.  Not a fake one.  A real, historical house in my town that became a haunted house for Halloween.  First time I'd stayed out til 1am.
I thought it was haunted for real, anyway.
I mean, a 150 year old house?  How could it not be?

6.  What's your favorite scary movie?
I don't like scary movies.  I never have.  My favorite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus.  And you all know I enjoy The Walking Dead (which could maybe fall under "scary movie").
I never liked the Chuckie, Friday the 13th, Jason stuff.
My brother dressed up in bloody flannel and wore a hockey mask every Halloween from ages 6-12.
Weirdo.

This will be fun for no one.

  1. I dislike Halloween and dressing up so much that I didn't even bother with this Sunday Social...heh. The only good part is the 50% off candy the next day.

  5. I have no pictures of me in costume as a little. I also never really took in the opportunity to dress like a hooker in college. I was going to dress up as a Beiber Beliber, but I haven't gotten my Justin shirt yet. Dumb Wednesday Halloween...

  6. I don't dress up either .. only for my birthday 3 years ago. It is in October so we had a Halloween-themed Gothic Party - which was fun, but that was it!
I call watching Zombies pretty scary! alright alright I admit I really like scary movies but I have a fear the walking dead - it seems like over the years I developed this and its no fun. Sometimes when I go to bed I am wondering if there had been a virus outbreak in the city and now everyone is coming after us as the walking dead ! Stupid moviiiies I admit I watched too many in the past years ;-)

  9. I dont dress up either. I might feel festive and wear a black skirt. But costumes? No thanks. Dressing my kids up on the other hand? All sorts of amazing.

  11. I havent dressed up in over 5 years. It sounds fun in retrospect but it's just SO much work that I just end up skipping it when the time comes.
