Linking up with Amber and Neely!
This week, I've created a theme. (Yay for themes!)
But first.
It's okay that I waited 2 weeks to see The Hunger Games. And yes, I loved it.
It's okay...
...to not like Alaska.
Honest-to-goodness, it's okay!
I came to peace with this many months ago. Actually, about a year ago. I realized my blog didn't look or sound like anything I heard out of my Alaska friends. I didn't look or sound anything like my Alaska friends. They were wearing raincoats and gloves while out hiking in the summer and I was wearing shorts and flip-flops and sitting in front of my fireplace, desperately trying to keep warm, while painting my toenails.
Look at this. Lovely, lacy, lazily falling snowflakes.
Like a Christmas card, isn't it? Beautiful. Makes me think of baking Christmas cookies, wrapping gifts, and one-horse open-sleighing it to Grandma's house.....
................
This was Saturday.
The day before Easter.
Whatever. I still wore shorts to the gym.
I said, "Nope. You don't get to complain. You live here on purpose."
It's totally okay that I said that.
It's NOT OKAY that Target does this.
That's right, folks. The cute clutch I bought was "on clearance" for $11. The usual price for this clutch was $12.99. ALASKA Target marked it up to $15.99 because they figured that the good people of the Frontier are willing to pay that much. Dear Target: I may have to cut my trips to you down to only once a week.
And continuing with the Alaska theme...it's totally okay that this is what my foyer looks like.
No, I can't fly. I took this from the balcony. |
If you need me, I'll be drinking margaritas in front of the fireplace.
At least your disdain for Alaska can make the rest of us laugh. Heres to hoping you get Hawaii next :)
ReplyDeleteThings I love about this post:
ReplyDelete(1) Hunger Games a la Antoine Dodson. And you can run and tell THAT!
(2) Dwight Schrute.
(3) "You live here on purpose." It is TOTALLY okay that you said that. :)
I love your theme this week. It's okay for all of it! :) Especially the way your foyer looks. Why bother putting the boots away??
ReplyDeleteI just want to say, you are HILARIOUS! I absolutely love your blog and am your newest follower :) Hope you'll follow back at ashareyes.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteEkk that's a lot of snow, I live in Arizona so we are the complete opposite of that. I feel for you girl, I hate snow! Enjoy your margarita or two :)
ReplyDeleteCute Blog !
Haha I love what you said to them! I would have a HARD time living in Alaska. All that snow!
ReplyDeleteI have NEVER heard of a business marking something up. Crazy....and a totally good reason to dislike Alaska. Sending you warm thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling me about the email! I think I fixed it (maybe?...you should check and let me know if you have an extra minute)
ReplyDeleteI will now stop complaining that it's still raining sideways in Portland - you win. Alaska needs to RELAX and show some sun!
ReplyDeleteOn the upside, bless you for Dwight Schrute and margaritas by the fire - my goodness, that sounds amazing.
oh no. that snow is not okay and neither is the target mark up!! It is ok that tomorrow is friday!!!
ReplyDeleteDang that's a lot of snow! I remember when it's snowed on and after my birthday (once in Syracuse, NY and once in CT). I'm sorry that you got so much snow, but I guess there's a reason for you being there :)
ReplyDeleteIt's most definitely ok to have waited that long to see The Hunger Games, especially because I have yet to see it haha. I'm hoping to go this weekend but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I dont think I could handle living in Alaska...so much snow! The crunch of it under my feet always gave me the heebie jeebies.
